I had a lot of trouble sleeping when I quit. Quitting did change my sleeping patterns. When I smoked, any opportunity for a nap was paradise for me. Since quitting, naps are rare and so is sleeping in. It seems that quitting has given me more energy. In the beginning lack of sleep was annoying, but I have adjusted. I do sleep better but still less than I use to. For some reason, I just don't require as much sleep. Perhaps I rest better since I can breath. I use to get up and smoking during the middle of the night. (What an addict!) Your body is going through a lot of changes. Give yourself a chance to adjust. Just like with children, when your body is tired, you will sleep. Pleasant dreams. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 454 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,098 Amount Saved: $1589 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 2 Mins: 12 Seconds: 8

Hi shannon and pinktx, It is very normal to have problems going to sleep, or problems with waking up during the night, while you are in the process of quitting smoking. It is another side effect of cleaning your body from nicotine. I use tylenol pm sometimes, especially if my back or neck is aching. And I have used melatonin. It helped. Make sure not to drink any caffeinated drinks in the evening, soda pop, coffee, tea, chocolate. That could have a negative effect on sleep patterns also. I learned on this site that nicotine keeps your body from absorbing caffeine. After you quit nicotine, caffeine can have a much stronger effect. Congratulations on your 18 days..awesome. Unfortunately the label on melatonin doesn't tell you what medications interact badly. Please speak with your doctor or pharmacist as melatonin can compromise any issues with the liver and should not be taken by anyone with immunity issues. I'm not sure why the moderators keep saying "this is great" when it comes to melatonin. It isn't "great" if it can be dangerous. Rusty

No, Danielle, it doesn't. Since when does this site allow the recommendation of specific products? Rusty
