Cigarettes Not Smoked
Finished the meeting, and realised that i was no longer a smoker - no reward.
Do you see the flashing lights going off everywhere? Big Lie being told to yourself here ... don't let it trick you. Cigarettes are not a reward. They are legal drugs is what they are. The sad thing is that illegal drug users can check into a drug rehab. Us legal drug users have to do it on our own pretty much ... isn't that special? Repeat after me ... CIGARETTES ARE NOT A REWARD. I AM GIVING UP NOTHING. THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE TO SMOKING.
I was driving home from work, and it is totally consuming my thoughts, my head space,I feel so low and depressed I just want to cry. I feel awful. I cant work out whether i really feel like that, or whether it is real and my head is playing tricks with me.
Then have a good cry if you need to. Get some of those frustrating emotions out. Then go for a walk. Talk back to those inner voices, more than likely nicodemon at this time. Tell him to go take a walk off of a short pier and to never come back. Imagine you kickin his a$$. Hey ... it helps me ... heh! ;p
Its been three days, and to be honest, until now, it had been ok, cravings had been ok. I now feel like I am going out of my mind want to pace the floor - pull my hair out, scream shout, burst into tears. Fortunately there is this group. So i can write and vent here. I feel awful. So not looking forward to day 4. :o(
Kick, scream, RUN ... EXERCISE ... get those frustrations out. Do not let this push you into a hole ... nicodemon would love nothing better. You can do this. Post, vent ... keep doing whatever you need to do ... to get through this rough patch. All of this will pass... it will get better... I promise... Hang in there. Hey Niks, You're doing great! I've got about the same smoking history as you - smoked 25 - 30 a day for about 22 years. There are a lot of behavioural changes that we need to be deliberately conscious of, until they become habit - much like how we learnt to smoke. And it is SO normal to be emotional. Change can be a frightening thing. Lets embrace it and make it ours! cheers alison :) Kick the herb to the kerb. Niks.. We smoked about the same for about the same amount of time so I'm assuming we are about the same age as well. Quitting is probably the hardest thing you will ever do in your life but it is so worth it. YOU are worth it. Go ahead and kick, scream, fight, yell, cry, punch a pillow, break dishes, whatever it takes....Just don't smoke. You are in the middle of Hell week and they don't call it Hell week for nothing. those first few weeks are really tough to get through but you can do it. Take your quit five minutes at a time. Just tell yourself for the next five minutes, I don't smoke. When you finish that, do it again. Hang in there. It really does get better. Niks - that is breakthrough thinking you are doing at the moment. Perhaps you're a lot more mature this quit and you're willing to own it and make it yours? Allowing yourself to smoke again because you don't want to be mad sounds like either immaturity or a not real desire to quit. Whatever - it sounds like you're not letting that rationalization crap get through this time. If you can keep that up, you will have won Niks. Really. Niks nixes nic! Niks nixes nic! Niks nixes nic! Keep it up Niks!
