L2F don't be to hard on yourself, this isnt easy at all! Bubba i understand exacly what your saying. That is how i see it and how my mind is doing it. I havent quit smoking. I just am not smoking. Like you the mere going 24 hrs was really really big for me. And if i can go another 30 or so yrs not smoking that is going to be wonderful! Its just lingo but the word "quit" is hard on an addict....at least right now and for this addict. When i'm much stronger i may tackle the finallity of it but right now i'm hanging in there one hour at a time. Ya know guys i had a little trouble filling out the quit meter thingy, took me a week......oh yes it was all in my mind but putting that date down was like saying i quit and i wasnt....i just wasnt going to smoke....that day. Hang in there L2F Correen

Here is a game I play wiht my smoker husband...its called keep away. If I can sneak a cigarette out of his pack (and not smoke it) he owes me $20. He's got a constant eye on that pack lol I play a different game with my kids...'sniff mommy'. If they smell smoke on me they are allowed to tattle on me to their daddy and they get $5. Yesterday I lit some insence and was sitting next to it so I guess it made me smell a little smokey or somethign anyway my 7yo sniffs me and runs off to tell her older sister "mommy smells funny!!!" When I explain to my teen about the insence she gives me a lecture about how its a well known fact that ppl light incence to mask the order of cigarettes or marajuana lol I thought she was going to physically search me for a minute there lol. Maybe you and your frinds can do something similar...make it fun for them too. If they catch you smoking you owe them each $20 or if you are able to snag one of their cigarettes (and hand it back over unsmoked) they owe you $20. How about you all stop smoking and each of you put some of the money you saved by stopping into a pot each month...the ones who make it to be one year smoke free gets to split the money. Dont be too hard on yourself. Best thing would be to get rid of those cigarettes (if you dont then you will just have another then another etc.. I could go on years straight like that) You can do this. Just destroy the cigarettes, flush them down the loo, whatever, come back and start again. Just dont continue to smoke. It could take you years before you get back on the wagon again. During that year you might smoke the one that triggers off a cancer, how much money would you spend? You need to ask why did you feel the need to smoke? You say that you are lonely at home? Did smoking the cigarette make you feel like you were with your friend? Have you tried writing a goodbye letter to your friend MR Nicotine? I mean a real goodbye letter? That can help with seperation. You say you were on your own, couldntyou have come here and posted for help? Please dont be hard on you, there is no judgement here. I hope you continue with your quit! Hey L2F, Things happen. We're all only human and to forgive is apparently divine. To forgive yourself is a great gift, be compassionate, understanding and strong. One slip does not justify smoking your life away. (But the nicodemon will try to tell you it does!) Quitting cigarettes is hard, not quitting is harder in the long run. Read all those posts of people on O2 tanks, emphysema, losing lungs, all the money we've spent etc. Embrace your new self, your new life, all the new possibilities and potential you now have as a clean, gorgeous non-smoker. Take Care alison :) Kick the Herb to the Kerb My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,886 Amount Saved: $775 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 21 Mins: 51 Seconds: 46
i know i should have stayed home but its so loney sitting by myself
loves2fish - you already know what to do and not to do to keep your Quit... Each of us is in choice. I can go out right now and buy a pack. It's a choice. Being alone may be what you need right now, is that possible? Go deep, what is it you really want to do - smoke or Quit? We're here for you but we can't do it for ya :) Blessings be- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 134 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,721 Amount Saved: $623.1 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 11 Mins: 49 Seconds: 42
