Hi Caddie, Welcome :)you've made the right choice. Im desperate enough to quit that if it takes talking to strangers about how im feeling then so be it. While im doing this, im not smoking :) The first couple of days of my quit are a little bit of a blur at the moment. I spent a lot of time on here, walked around the office a lot, talked like a freight train going a million miles and hour lol. I cant really offer you any advice about the lack of concentration, i can say that it is only temporary and i think that 2 days of that compared to the rest of my life.... it just doesnt compare, its worth it :) When ever you need to vent just come here, i cant stress how much it helps. Caddie you are doing well. If you want to quit, you can with the help of this site. Many of us also smoked for decades, with many of us smoking since we were children, never knowing what it felt like to be an adult and be smoke free. I came here because I could not talk to my boyfriend about it, or I could, but I could not rely on him for support. If you want to quit you can do it, permenantly on this site. I think so anyway, the support is definately there. It is a wonderful place with fantastic people. If you want to smoke DONT POST INSTEAD! it does work. Do the tool box, plan for your quit, and show your quit meter when you post, you will soon get proud as those days pass by... and you get closer and closer to new milestones. If you want to do it, we will be right here for you! Hello Caddie and welcome! Congrats on your decision to quit, and also your decision to become a member here. Have you tried the toolbox to the left? Breathing control is good, it gets rid of anxiety and calms us down. I found that to be one of the most useful things. Also if you can, try and get hold of the Allen Carr book called Easyway to stop smoking. A lot of people find that a useful read for their quit. If you really want to smoke DONT! post here instead. Non smokers dont smoke at all.. I know if you have smoked for a long time and this is your first quit, it can be scarey... post here we will all be here for you. Hi Caddie, I worried about weight gain as well. I told myself to forget it and concentrate on quitting smoking as it was far more important, and I just wish I could have followed my own advice as it would have cut out a lot of unnecessary angst!! 2 months on and yes I'm still carrying a few more pounds but it's stabilised, I don't have to watch what I eat, I'm not eating any more than I used to and I haven't gained any more weight for weeks! Exercise would no doubt get rid of the extra....but my family would die of shock if I started that lark!!! So, don't worry, just concentrate on doing brilliantly in your quit. Regards Lilly :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,139 Amount Saved: 355 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 5 Mins: 59 Seconds: 25
