Help....day 7

18 years ago 0 351 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Elaine, Stay strong girl, YOU CAN DO IT!!! That was a bad day for me too and I finally just let myself get mad and cry and scream and yell. It helped and I got through it. Didn't have this site yet but my hubby was a trooper, called him and he made me laugh. Don't give up, it is worth the work. Dear Elaine, I know what you are going through but you know you can do it !! Don't ever give in. What helped me was to stay busy. My house was never cleaner than the first week of my quit. It will get easier girl, believe me. Hang in there and good luck, we are here for you. Jeani girl that is a good post to read from you!! Glad to hear that you are doing better, I do remember you in hell week thinking your head was going to explode! :) It does get better Elaine, you will find that you think about it less and less. You will get bad days - days that you think about it more, but often thats just a trigger. Day 8 was terrible for me, I think there is a post here from me, where I am saying that my head is having a tantrum i wanted to smoke so badly. Come here instead of smoking though, post as much as you can. It definately gets better. Well done chuck2b There is a post from me here when I was on day 5 or 6. I too was thinking wouldnt it be nice to smoke, just for today and then not smoke tomorrow. That was my junkie self trying to trick me, again. I dont think about smoking just for now anymore. There is no such thing as just for now. IT will be smoking ALL DAY EVERY DAY.. until you quit all over again! You are doing good! Last day of the dreaded first week! You have done so well to make it this far dont throw it all away now! Unfortunately for us all, quitting is not easy, if it was then everyone would do it, and there would be no need for sites such as this one! However each test that we have and pass makes us stronger and the fact that you are in day 7 means that you have already passed many tests. This is just one more that it is necessary to go through to out you further along your road to a smoke free life! It does get easier!! Hang in there and let us know how it goes kolativey My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 196 Amount Saved: 80 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 11 Mins: 29 Seconds: 39

Elaine, trust your friends on this site, when they say it will get better believe me it will, you just have to hang on to your quit. Hell week is HELL, i thought my head would explode, i cried, screamed, but did not give in, and my friends here said IT WILL GET BETTER, and it did. I too hate this addiction, but now i have learned from everyone here, that it can be BEAT... stay strong, post, read, you can do it....jeanigirl My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 267 Amount Saved: $95 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 4 Mins: 12 Seconds: 30

Hey, I had to go through hell week and heck week two times! It is totally bad, plus, I would have 29 days now if I hadn't blown it. Scary isn't it. But whenever I get bad like that, I remember that in a little while everything will change. I had time destortion really bad too. Listening to music seemed to help and just avoid looking at the clock, maybe even put a piece of masking tape over the clock in the car! The car was maybe the worse thing for me too especially in the morning on the way to work. Now I have driven to work without smoking maybe 20 times and it has gotten easier. I always have a bottle of cold water with me in a sport bottle. Those seem to help me. find something that helps you and use it. Don't worry, it will change soon. How you are feeling is par for the course at this point. You have to tough it out. Using your coping skills will make it easier. Remember: This is NOT going to last forever. Rome was not built in a day. So be patient. Be gentle with yourself and reward yourself often.
