I've been cruising along for thirty plus days and have had relativly few bad urges. Was reading the paper this morning and BAM, I really had a strong urge. After breakfast the same thing. I'm not going to smoke and I was able to get over this inconvience. But it reminded me of my other attempts to quit that lasted about a month. It is amazing how this addiction will jump up and bite you in the ass! I guess this a warning that you can't let your guard down! The bottom line is NOPE! Not sure when they will end, I am sure everyone is different. My dad quit and said for him it took a few years. I still sometimes get the urge but I would never think of smoking. I just think...what the??? and snap out of it!! In my opinion, celebrations and milestones are triggers. Why? Because when we accomplished things as smokers, we smoke as a reward. I think when we accomplish things as non smokers, that old smokers subconscious is still there. It hangs around for awhile. Just acknowledge the thought and move past it. Don't dwell on it and let it turn into a crave. The more milestones you achieve, the less this will happen. At least, this has been my experience. NEVER let your guard down is SO RIGHT...... Congrats on 36 days! My last bad urges were around 100-110 days - after that the nicodemon gave up. Hang in there - it passes.
