Hey lashes!!! My brain is doing a bit of that right now. You know what i think that your mind is having a bit of a tantrum.... I went through the EXACT same thing as you did on day 8, and posted about it somewhere. When he gets on your nerves, walk OUT of the room, and come here and post, even if you post over and over on this thread.... let it out.. Its not giving your partner the pleasure, well he could have been like mine who was not supportive at all, instead, I think he would rather have me smoking than not be smoking and be agitated how selfish is that? You are doing so well on your quit.. keep going, how you are feeling right now is COMPLETELY NORMAL. I was there same thing same time as you! Lashes, You've gotten some really good advice. N2K brings up an interesting point. Once you've calm down, why don't you take a step back and ask yourself what you could have done differently that might of help you keep your anger from rising to high levels. Lashes, You should be proud of yourself, you handled this very well! Good job! Sounds like you've got quite a few coping mechanisms handy! Danielle ______________________________ The SSC Support Team

Oh, don't I know! My hubby can push all my buttons and I used that as an excuse my first attempt in April! Don't let hin have that power over you. You just go the other way, don't let him get to you! Part of it is the junkie telling you that he is making you crazy so you need to smoke. This will pass, hang in there! lashes - Don't make your husband responsible for your quit! It is yours to keep and yours alone! Go out and take a long walk or if you can go in a room in your home and close the door - lie down on the floor with the lights out...close your eyes and take a deep breath, hold it for 5 seconds and blow it out through your mouth. Do this about 5 times and then try to relax...think about relaxing your toes, then your feet, your shins, your calves and work you way up through your body to the top of your head especially your brain. Concentrate on relaxing yourself...don't get worked up during this time...use this time for yourself. You have an amazing quit going - 8 days - you have made it through Hell week fantastically! Take some time for yourself and have a big ol reward! Thanks! Murphy's law: one spouse quits smoking... other spouse decides to pick that WHOLE week to be a crab! LOL Really, he has been a pill!!!! But we had a good day after all. quoting Nik "When he gets on your nerves, walk OUT of the room, and come here and post, even if you post over and over on this thread.... let it out.. " This is exactly what I did... came here to post. What I need at that point is "you can do it, keep going." I do not blame- quoting islandgirl"Don't make your husband responsible for your quit!" Quit or no quit- there is no excuse for bad behavior... he was behaving like a jerk, he was having a tantrum not me, I was actually very focused on how I spoke to him at that moment and I stayed calm. I walked away and came here. THEN i went out for a walk :) a 45 min walk in the hot 95 degree sun! And I came home got some more water and did it AGAIN! So I am quite proud of how I handled it. See I do not take kindly to someone yelling- I HATE yelling!!! So this triggered me. And I find I have learned to not give it energy-I am OUT!... if he wants to yell, he can yell at a blank space! I have to post to get the supoort at the moment- thats what I needed so thank you all! AND I AM SURE I'll be back for the same!! My husband is being a jerk right now!! I have found no one can make me wanna smoke like he can! He can't communicate for crap, gets me all wound up and the anger in me is a mountain and that causes wanting a cig! I mean he can make me MAD! Ok rational me- no cig- I aint given him the pleasure of making me want to do anything. Deep breaths**** My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 255 Amount Saved: $60 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 29 Seconds: 3
