My thyroid barely works at all, and I take very high doses of thyroid meds, so i know what you're going through. When I changed my diet at weight watchers, I actually needed less medication because the diet change helped my thyroid. So, keep excercising, drinking water, and maybe get a calorie recomendation from your doctor and start journaling everything you eat, and counting it. I know that I perosnally thought that I had a great diet, and had no clue whay I was overweight.. until i started writting it all down. Two of my sisters have this same problem. One of my sisters had a little harder time in loosing the weight, but the other did what you are doing and it dropped off quite easily. I think it varies from one person to the other. The one that had the weight drop off was the one that smoked she also put on a lot of weight after her quit. If you like i can ask exactly what it was that she did and how long it took if you like. Dutch it may be a little harder for some but it is acheiveable. :) I do 40 mins of pilates & take a 1/2 walk every day (mostly uphill). Ive been doing this for just over a week. I feel fantastic, my fitness is getting so much better by the day. Love PrincessC :) x My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 579 Amount Saved: $255 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 0 Mins: 37 Seconds: 6

It's time for me to loose some weight now. I started walking early in the morning yesterday and I walked for 1 hour. I live near a lake and I walked all around it. My little dog thought it was wonderful. From now on I will walk for an hour or more each day, depending on what time I have to work. I have a slow working tyroid and I have medication for that. My doctor says it's hard for me to loose weight but I'm going to try it anyway (I'm a stubborn girl). Does anyone know if I can loose weight with this problem? Any advice is welcome. I am on a diet allready and I don't like sweet food, so that is a nice help. Bye for now :) :)FINI :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 126 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,154 Amount Saved: 371.7 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 8 Mins: 31 Seconds: 45

Dutch Fini, Keep working with your doctor on this matter. The effectiveness of your medication will probably play a role. Keep up the great effort, it's sure to pay off. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team
