I know where you are coming from Mark, I would wake up and smoke 3 or 4 before getting out of bed. I could smoke loads and loads and loads. I think that my real quit last sept came from sitting in my car, smoking, then going to get another one... but i was already smoking. IT was then that i realised enough was enough and i saw my addiction for what it was.. i wasnt even get enough of a hit off the cigarette i was smoking.. other drug users then try different methods of getting a bigger hit. I just decided to quit... my addiction had gone too far. I am really happy to be where i am right now, I dont really think about it much. If i do, its a flash thought. Thank god it gets easier from those early days.
Once you have tasted the freedom from smoking you cannot enjoy those cigarettes anymore.
PRICELESS. But you won't know it unless you give it your ALL. There is no trigger that will get you to smoke unless you allow it. And for that, we are here. Smoking will not make it better. Escape to the SSC instead and pummel the keyboard and post here. Cigarette's don't care what you are going through. WE DO. Prepare for your quit with the tools on the left. You might want to start by learning what you are really doing to your self with the smoking. We will be here for you when you make your decision, I hope to see you soon. Many Blessings Sent Your way! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Mark. Ahhhh that comfort zone. It feels good doesn't it. That feeling of the familar life. The one that is easy, doesn't require any effort, blame everything else except yourself, smoke those cigarettes, hide behind the addiction, safe and sound from the world. Yep, I've often thought of going back there myself. Something I have learned along this quit journey is that there is no going back. Once you have tasted the freedom from smoking you cannot enjoy those cigarettes anymore. You know, those cigaretters really don't do anything for you except feed an addiction. You know, you are slowing killing yourself. You know, you can be smoke free and break free of the enslavement of smoking don't you? Look around these boards. There are people everywhere, doing it everyday. Take some deep breaths. Decide to get rid of the cigarettes and go on with your life. When your desire to quit, outweights your desire to smoke, you will succeed. Mark,
im sure it may happen again
If you're sure that it will happen again, then it will. Tell yourself "NO IT WON'T!!!!!!!" and it won't. Don't let yourself got there. Don't give yourself the excuse. If you believe that you will fail, then you will. As for the second part of that sentence...
but i will go staight back to quitin till i get it conquered
That's a good attitude to have, but wouldn't it be better to not put yourself through the hell of constant withdrawals?!?! To me, Hell Week was bad enough the fist time (actually, the first 30+ times). I don't EVER want to have to do it again, and I'm sure you don't either! You had 23 days of not smoking. Why throw that away for a few cigarettes that are going to kill you? You also said,
loved every one them even now dont know why i gave up or what im about any more but have gone back to not smokin till next time!!!!
Why does there have to be a next time? Why do you insist that you're going to put yourself through this again and again and again? We all loved smoking... I don't know a single smoker who doesn't or didn't enjoy smoking. We liked it because it made us feel normal... we were addicts who were calming the junkie inside of us all. It's not that we REALLY liked smoking... we liked not withdrawing. But after the initial withdrawal phase is over, the freedom from quitting is amazing. I think more important than the fact that you smoked 60 cigarettes is your attitude towards smoking. As long as you believe that you WILL smoke again and that you love smoking and that you don't know why you quit, the I think you are just putting yourself through constant withdrawal hell. Do some soul searching and figure out if you really, truly do want to quit... that is, if you want to quit more than you want to smoke. THAT is the key! So, until you have figured out whether or not you really want to quit, then you are just torturing yourself. When you are finally ready to say "THAT'S IT! I'M DONE AND I'M NEVER SMOKING AGAIN!!!" then, you will be ready to quit. Until then, you're just fooling yourself. I hope you come to that point soon. Crave the Quit! Hi Mark, maybe if you put periods in your sentences? ;p Then you could stop and get your breath. As one of my favorite quitters, JohnW, says "move into the slow lane...take it easy. I think that once you make up your mind to quit, you will stop saying "till next time." You will get to the point where you say "to hell with this. I'm not going to let this drug rule me any longer." Then there will be no need for a next time. Good luck, Mark. Hope to see you again soon!
