Hi girl, I'm sorry for you that you have such a hard time. But the good news is that that will go away. Try to see your quitting as a relief, that helps for me. Hang in there and dont give up!! Come here and complain all you want. Here is always help for you. You will be happy when your husband comes back. I haven't seen my boyfriend since januari and he will be back home next december, that is almost a year. We talk on the phone every day for an hour and he is really proud at me for not smoking. Thanks guys, Your advice really hit the spot. I am feeling much better today. Just have to keep calm and not let the trivial little things bother me. Thats when I get all stressed out and start to think of the cigs. Deep breaths. Count to 10. I can do this!!!! I have decided that the weekend was just another challenge I won over. Another win towards my quit!!! Think Positive. 26 days smoke free. Now thats something to be proud of. Thanks again. I am so impressed by all your stats. I envy you all. You are all so strong and clever and I cant wait untill I am there with you. Well done to you all!!! Hi Guys, Need some encouragement. For the first time in my quit I was really tempted to have a cig. Had a tough weekend. Spent yesterday at the sports ground watching my son play soccer and then watched a friend of mine's game after that. It's these times when I really start to think about a smoke. I have been avoiding these situations since I started my quit and thought that I had been doing so well that I was strong enough to face it. I came very close to slipping. When we got home I had big problems with 6 yr old son and 5 month old baby was playing up. Husband away for work. He's not around for 4 weeks and am finding it hard to cope without him. I have thought about having a smoke more times this weekend alone than during my entire quit. I suppose I should expect tough times and strong craves but I guess I have been a bit cocky about how well I have been doing and has knocked me down a bit. I am not feeling so confident now and am scared about how strong my craves were. Still craving now and typing this is just making me think about it more. I just want it all to go away. I just wish I could go to bed and wake up a complete non smoker and never have to work through another craving again. Why does it have to be such a struggle. It feels like it is going to go on forever. I am really scared. Why does it have to be so hard. It's like taking one step forward and two steps backwards. Sorry for the pity me whinge session. Just feeling really hopeless. Hi Jo- You are doing great, just take it one moment at a time, measured steps - when the cravings come. Focus on your Quit and give it power. Finding something to really get into (lost in) like a long walk, calling a friend, writing a letter, journaling, coming here and posting and helping others, painting a wall, grocery shopping, there is so much to really get into that will distract you. Hold tight - you are doing it one moment at a time... Do anything to distract yourself, just don't light up. And pat yourself on the shoulder - YOU ARE DOING GREAT!! Hi mummy, The good news is, IT IS NOT GOING TO LAST FOREVER!!! If just feels like it today. Keep that decision firm; no smoking. You will feel better tomorrow, or the next day. But, you will feel better. I do know exactly how you feel. There are days that I just wish I could disappear so i won't have to feel one more craving or have one more thought about stupid cigarettes. It should just show us what a horrible addiction smoking really is. My heart goes out to you girl. Do it for those beautiful little children. You've got 25 days of freedom under your belt, so you know that you can do this. Stay strong. Hi, Jo. Sorry to hear you're having problems. You gotta watch that old demon. He's more than willing to sit back and bide his time until your guard is down, then, WHAM!, he lets you have it. But you haven't taken two steps back. Two bad days out of 25 isn't two steps back. It just feels like it. Been there, it's awful. But it passes, just like Dutch & Rusty said. Remember, as bad as it may feel, it is healing, it is good. Breathe deep, distract yourself, get some exercise, post more, and try to laugh. :) Congratulations on 25 smoke-free days, Jo. You really are doing great. Jo, unfortunately this quitting adventure doesn't happen overnight. But it does happen minute by minute, hour by hour, and day by day. That's why you have to face it in those increments. No wishing will make it different. Each minute that you make it means you are one minute stronger than you were. Same for each hour and each day. You are 25 days stronger now, believe it or not. That junkie is trying to suck you back in, by telling you "OH, JO, you are so weak. OH, JO, a cigarette will make you feel so much better. OH, JO, blah, blah, blah, lie, lie, lie, tempt, tempt, tempt." So who's stronger? You or the junkie? Are you going to give up all your hard work for the temptations of a demon? You know that you can get through those craves -- there's no reason to be scared because you KNOW you can get through them. So find something to do today. Make a day plan. Church? Park? Shop? Cook? Occupy yourself so that that junkie will know that he is dying. Come on, Jo. We know that you can do this. Now you do, too!
