Weight gain is so depressing

18 years ago 0 117 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Yup...moved up a pant size!!! I always ate alot so my food habits have not changed. I am jogging more and walking and the scale just keeps climbing. It is depressing but I am sooo proud of myself for not smoking. I would rather have the flab right now then to go back to smoking. I will loose it!!! I feel so much better smoke free!!! Hang in there we are all going through body changes!!!! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 558 Amount Saved: $77 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 19 Mins: 11 Seconds: 55

Know where you guys are coming from. Have put on a stone of weight (14lbs) and have gone up a clothing size. I am not overly obese but still it is depressing none the less, I have cried myself to sleep the past couple of nights cause I feel unattractive and it has been weighing on me (pardon the pun). I thought it best to get the quit firmly under my belt before tackling the weight. I now feel that I am there and have started dealing with my physical care. I have taken to drinking 8 pints of water a day and following the diet below.. Breakfast - 30g of whole grain cereal with 125ml semi skimmed milk Lunch - 5 portions of fruit ie. 1 banana, 1 apple, 1 peach, 1 orange and 1 portion grapes (being a handful or around 20 grapes) Dinner - Meat (usually grilled) rice or potatoes and veg. I have managed to lose 2lbs in the past week. I have also taken to walking for 30 mins at a time 3 times a day. Unfortunately my dig had to have an operation on her leg this week so the walks have been put off for a little bit. Hope you can all find some way of working off the weight you have added. Krissie

Finally got on the scale last nite at the gym, its official....11 pounds since I quit. I refuse to let it get me too down, I started an exercise program, and I'll give it some time. Don't let it depress you too much, you quit smoking, and you WILL conquer this too. Talk to your doctor. I have gained 20 pounds since I quit using the patch. I have tries to watch how much I eat, so that this would not happen. Had the same problem the last two times I tried to quit. Going back to smoking solved the problem then. I know I can not go back to smoking even though I still get terrible cravings because I have emphysema. But the weight gain has made me so miserable. All the plus benefits from quitting smoking are not there. The weight and emphysema makes doing physical activities difficult. Also, any financial gain is gone, because none of my clothes fit. Just need someplace to vent my frustations.
