Day 7 OUT of CONTROL!!

18 years ago 0 71 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Maybe its just a part of the quit timeline? Last night I had "words" with someone and so wanted to smoke. Until now (today is day 7) I had been fine. This had been a walk in the park. Thank you all, I am still sticking it out! Even last night when my brother (a smoker) came over for dinner. He went outside to smoke and play with the kids after dinner, while I did the dishes. It wasn't as bad as it could have been. I MADE IT! to day eleven, at least. The breathing, and taking it day to day really does help! Anyone have any reward ideas for a most of the time single mom, who doesn't want to use food as a reward, and has to watch every penny? (and don't say a nice bath, because I don't find them relaxing)

I am so there, right now. It is my 10th day, and I feel miserable, like a failure, like everything I do is wrong. I feel like I should be past that point. I am cranky, sad, frustrated, angry, on the verge of tears, wanting a hug - all at work! Not a good picture. I know a cigarette won't fix it, but for some reason not having a cigarette is causing it??!!?? Help!

Hi Everyone!! Sorry I havnt been around, I actually went away 4 2days & stayed with a non-smoker friend, which was good! Thankyou for all the good suggestions & support! I ended up explaining to colleauges that it was just me & my quit & they were mostly fine about it (& if they we'rnt, well I dont really care anymore!) Work isnt everything & some of these people think they are perfect, when they are far from it!! *end rant* hehe I think (in retrospect)that i waited too long to reward myself, that & the fact that my wrk place is enuf to sent the pope himself into a screaming lonie!! lol Anyways... thanks guys :) T xo

Please anyone, Ive made it to day 7 & besides a terribly sore throat, I've been fine until today when Ive just LOST the PLOT! I got offended by something small, took it all WAAAYYY out of context & then got very angry & then cried NON STOP for 3 hours!!! This all occurred at work, so now Im quite embarrassed just to help my situation!! Maybe I should only work half a day tomorrow?? Im getting upset now because Im embarrased :( What is that outburst about??? Anyone going through or done anything similar??

Why are you like this? You are like this because of cigarettes ... you are right about that! Do you want to let cigarettes keep causing this? No you don't. So let's get through this once and for all. Keep fighing. An addict always feels best right after they get their fix. Someone who is not an addict doesn't go through this crap. Let's get to the other side. It is nice over there ... it is. And you can do this. Use your coping mecanisms. Breath in deeply and exhale. Grab some water and a straw ... drink. Tense all your muscles and release them one at a time. Chew some gum. Eat some hard candy. Hang in there ... it will get better. You are still in the throws of withdrawal. Just explain to everyone that you are in the process of Quitting and that you are sorry for your behavior and to please just excuse it. They will understand. Try to not be embarrassed ... it is part of this whole process and you will get through it ... you are doing great. After the withdrawals are gone you can concentrate on dealing with emotions, emotions you use to gloss over or ignore to a certain degree by going to have a smoke.
