Jacko the failure has decided not to fail!!

Jacko - consider that you did not fail miserably - your first attempt was just a dress rehearsal for the main event. You are so right in resetting your "mindset" - even with all of the other support - this is the most important one. This time, you might consider staying on the Zyban longer - initially you might feel so good, and develop a false sense of security, and not realize how much this aid is really working for you. I'm still on it (just one a day now), and I'm going to continue until I run out. Why tempt fate, and tease the demon before you have to? I know from blowing a 2-1/2 year quit last summer, that I will never be completely free of the temptation - I need to stay on guard and vigilent always. I now know how people can pick up the habit again after years of quit. I've heard a saying:
Failure Is Not Falling Down - It's Failing to Get Up Again
It couldn't apply better than in this situation. Good luck, Jacko! You know you can do it - because you already have! sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,556 Amount Saved: $558 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 1 Mins: 27 Seconds: 25

Jacko.. Congratulations in your decision to commit to quitting again... So many people would just give in completely and never try again... You have had a bump in your journey, but you can fix it... Needless to say we will all be here for you when you need our support... I know how you feel about the smoking ban, it came into force earlier this year here in scotland, and I think it has been one of the best motivators for a quit I have ever had.... Good luck for your quit.. Yeah Jacko... I've really missed you as well. All of these peopel came in here with encouraging words, and here I am with a selfish one. You know what? Cut yourself some slack.. you're no failure. They say many people quit 5-7 times before they quit for good. I don't think you're a failure at all.. You still want the quit. My advise is to do some reading at several sites and find out exactly what's going on with your body, so that you not only know that you're healing when you're craving or hurting or whatever you go through, but you'll know why it's healing and what exactly is healing. That's been my saving grace this time.. knowledge. Even though i thought I had learned all there was to know.. LOL.. things came along and suprised me! So, don't get discouraged either. *hugs* we're all glad you're here. Just got back from registering one kid at school and only have a few minutes before I have to leave and register the next one but saw your post and wanted to give you some info about Zyban real quick. I quit using a similar drug a few years ago (was a no-smoker for 2.5 years using it). There are a couple important rules about taking this med successfully: 1. Take it at the same time everyday. 2. You should take the medicene for about 14 days before you attempt to quit (this gives the med time to build up in your system and level out) 3. If you are taking 2 pills a day take the second pill BEFORE 3pm to avoid sleep pattern disterbances. Ask your doctor (or go to the company website) how many hours apart the 2 pills should be taken, I believe it's 8 hours. 4. Avoid drinking orange juice, Grapefruit juice and/or any citrus juice 1 hour before or 1 hour after taking this medicene (it can interfer with rate at which your body absorbs the med). I'm glad your back on track Jacko and remember this time you are comming in with new information about your quit and new found determination to quit :) you're going to make it I know you are :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 543 Amount Saved: $105 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 18 Seconds: 10

They say it takes some people longer to quit than others - but you are trying again and it is a good decision. No one can tell you quit- you have to know that this is the time that YOU WILL SUCCEED!! Owning a bar will be difficult - but it can be done - I stressed out when I first quit about dealing with bowling and going to the bar - but I did it and continue - chew gum - chew on straws - chew on ice chips - all things I have done and will continue to do!! Good luck and Congrats and think positive!!! LBZee

To My New and Old Friends, I Failed, Miserably!! Since my holiday I have been weak. I been the docs and he told me to start all over again because my mind aint right. So I am!! This is me for all who dont know me... Hi Group- I'm Jacko. I have been on here many times over the years. Im 41 years old and been smoking full time for over 30 years. I have tried everthing incl Zyban which worked ok till my holiday and my weakness. I have just took my 1st pill(AGAIN) and will now smoke until Sunday 6th Aug at 23-59. I am giving up because I want to live longer. I wont lie and say I hate smoking, because I dont. I do enjoy a smoke but of all the cigs I had yesterday, I cant remember which one I enjoyed. Its now just become a habit. My daughter is expecting our first Grandchild in October and I really wanna see the baby grow. If I carry on smoking like I do, I`m gonna miss out on all the good things in life when my retirement comes around. If I make it that far. My other main problem is I own a bar. RosiesBar has been my baby for 18 months now and its doing really well. The new no smoking law in the Uk comes into force next year so I think now is as good a time as any to really get a grip with my life. I live in the North West of England in a small town called Newton-le-Willows. 20 miles from Manchester and Liverpool. There are links on my website for the town if any one is interested. I enjoy soccer, soccer, soccer and soccer. I love the game. Manchester City F.C. is my love!!I also got into baseball when I lived in Atlantic City, Usa. Its a great game. Im married to Amanda and I have 4 kids. Rachael, 19, James, 18, Alexandra Louise,13, and Amy Leah,10. My wife is a non smoker. My parents Doreen and Reg both smoke and are feeling the effects also, but they wont give up, even tho` they have tried. I must now concentrate on taking the pils at the correct times over the next 8 days and then its all systems go. Thanks for taking the time in reading my plight-I will read all the posts on this site to gain info and hopefully this will all lead me to the goal of my dreams. Becoming a non-smoker. Thankyou "Jacko"(UK) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: -6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 A
