When you experience withdrawal symptoms, remind yourself that each symptom is a sign of recovery - your body is in the process of healing itself. Think of withdrawal symptoms as growing pains. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. It�s possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Hi All -- Can someone help me out here? I am experiencing hot flashes followed by chills. I quit five days ago and haven't slipped once. Is this normal? I keep thinking I'm getting sick, but maybe it's withdrawl. I'd love to know if this is withdrawl-related or not. Has anyone else experienced this feeling? Thanks for the advice. Hi free, Don't worry, this is a common symptom...so common in fact that it's part of what's been termed as "Smoker's Flu". From my experience, that summed it up for me. I basically ached from head to toe, no energy, coughing, chills, etc. As rotton as you may feel, this is a sign that your body is healing :) It should pass within a day or two. Until then, treat yourself as if you really had the flu... comfort foods, rest & plenty of fluids. And, just as if you had the flu, if symptoms persist, see your doctor. 5 days is great... only 2 more days and hell week is over. Good goin'!
