No patch?

18 years ago 0 73 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I went to a couple graduation parties today without my patch on, and I didn't feel any different than when I had it on. The few craves were spread out, short, and not that intense. I just used the tools I've been using to get through them. I'll see if I can do it again tomorrow. :D My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 180 Amount Saved: $42 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 5 Seconds: 22

I've been using the 21 mg patch since day 1. Yesterday my patch stopped being sticky, so I took it off thinking I would put another one on when I got home. Well, when I got home, I forgot to put it on. I fell asleep and woke up, forgot to put it on again. So here I am with 24 hours under my belt without the nicotine patch. Should I put one back on now, or just keep one with me in my purse, and see if I can go from here without one? If you have a crave at this point, I doubt you will need 21mg now. Of course it is recommended that you follow the directions. I started with the patch as well, the 21mg and planned on using it as directed. I put the wrong patch on one day and started feeling withdrawal again and thought ... I do not want to go through withdrawals everytime I step down. At that point I decided I was strong enough to go through the full withdrawal from nicotine. I kept a 14mg patch with me just in case ... but I didn't use it. I had 3 days of withdrawal ... big deal ... what is 3 days? I say go for it ... but that's me. If you feel comfortable going for it, if you feel strong mentally ... I say get that nicotine out of you ... do it, do it, do it! Great ... keep on keeping on. If your quit is easier than others ... don't question it ... be grateful and go with it! Rainne, The decision is yours to make but make sure if you decide to do without the patch, you have a plan in place for how you're going to deal with cravings. Good luck, Danielle ___________________________________ The SSC Support Team

I would give it a shot! I used the gum for the forst 11 days and then off of it. It didn't bother me at all! Of course everyone is different but it is worth a try! If things get sticky,...put one on! Whatever you decide...don't smoke!! As Danielle says get that plan in place. No matter what you decide make sure to have your wits about you so you can get back to why you are quitting in a second. I quit cold turkey this time and I have quit with the patches and the gum previous. The craves will be there no matter what method you use simply make sure you have stategies and methodologies in place and in store for when the craves hit.
