How fast does the patch work

18 years ago 0 4 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have been using the patch now for two weeks. I usually put it on first thing in the morning (about 7 am) and my cravings usually subside by about 11:00am. So, in my opinion about 2-3 hours. I would also take the patch off about 2 hours before you go to sleep. On the box they tell you that you may experiance vivid dreams or nightmares...they are not kidding! The first night I took it off right before I fell asleep and I woke up every two hours in a sweat! If you feel you are ready to start, just jump right in! Just remember do not smoke while you have the patch on and even if you do not have the patch on the nicotine from the patch will still stay in your system for a few hours. Good luck!

I would say that you could try them and if they don't help, go for someting else. But Personally I tried a few years ago when those patches were still prescriptions, and second day, i was smoking 2 packs and wearing a patch at the same time. I also tried the wellbutrin. I think its all about how bad you want to quit. I by no means am holier than thou, someone says something to me right now my head is ready to do some spinning around. I stopped cold tuesday night. Just ran out of cigs, and didn't want to go up town and spend another 17 bucks on a carton plus 5 bucks for gas to go get them.

Sorry, I have never used the patch so I really couldn't tell you but I hope you don't think that it's a miracle fix and that you won't experience any ill effects because you're using it. That's all part of the addiction. Your brain tells you to do it. There are things that will ease your symptoms but you will still have a tough fight ahead. Best of luck - Don't be afraid! T. I smoked 23 years. This is my first and hopefully time that I will 'try' and quit. I am using the patch. I am following the patch program by the directions for the most part. I take the patch off to sleep and to work out, then put it back on. The patch is helping me tremendously. I have not smoked while wearing the patch as the directions say not to. But more so because my resolve is to quit and stay quit. I find it very useful as it helps deal with my physical withdraw so that I can concentrate on the mental aspect of quitting. By the time my 10 weeks of patch use is over ... I should be ready to deal whatever leftover physical withdraw symptoms there are ... if any. Own your determination. Own your quit. You can do it! Healthier me, The patch works best if use it as directed. It delivers the nicotine in such a way as to maintain the levels in your blood which in turn keeps you from getting withdrawals. Again, we strongly recommend you consult with your doctor. He/she is the best authority to determining which NRT is best for you taking into account your medical history. Hello there, once the patch is applied it takes about 20 minutes for the nicotine to take effect. Whatever you do don't smoke with a patch on as you get an 'overdose' of nicotine. Good luck.
