Hi I am dizzy too and went and asked the Doc as I take Zyban if it was related? He believes it has to do with more Oxygen to the brain, and as supporter Josie says has to do with carbon monoxide, As i hasnt been dizzy for the 2 weeks i taken the zyban. Congrats on your decision to quit! Hi, I have tried to quit 1st some weeks ago (lasted only 2 days), now im trying again and im on the 6th day smoking free; problem is i feel constantly dizzy. Well, not every second, but in a regular basis during the day; its not strong enough to make me loose conscience or something like that, even tho its uncomfortable. Is this withdrawal sympton or what ? Sorry to ask, but to get a doctor appointmente here free, takes a load of time. Thanks in advance for your help. Hello MikePhil, I too had that annoying dizziness. It really is a part of healing though. Your body will return to normal soon. Personally, mine lasted about 4-5 weeks. It wasn't as bad as time went on. Keep your head up!! Know that this is a good thing you are going through. It is your body healing from the abuse you gave it. ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 98 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,955 Amount Saved: $320.46 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 22 Mins: 13 Seconds: 52

Hi, MikePhil. Congratulations on 6 smoke-free days. That's a great accomplishment. The dizziness is normal. Pretty much everyone who quits feels it for a while. As long as it doesn't affect your walking or driving, and you don't feel like you're going to pass out, I wouldn't worry about it. If it does start affecting your daily activities, or if it doesn't clear up in a couple of weeks, you probably should see a doctor just to be safe. Keep up the good quit, MikePhil. You're doing great! Mike, Welcome to our support community and please take a look around. This site is very knowledgeable and can really make a difference within your journey. This indistinct but annoying symptom is linked with carbon monoxide withdrawal. It gives a sense of being in "another dimension." or dizziness. It can include changes in distance and space perception, a floating feeling, and a total lack of concentration. Remember that carbon monoxide is a deadly poison - it is a good thing to get out of your system. How long will this last? The first few weeks after quitting. Tips to help: Plan your workload to account for your temporary lack of concentration. Avoid additional stress during the first few weeks. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
