Babs - 'don't know if this makes sense' - yes it absolutely makes sense!! It's called addiction and we have all been there, there are points in the quitting process when times get tough and this is one of them. Just hang in there, it will ease I promise you. Don't forget - "tough times never last but tough people do" My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 113 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,358 Amount Saved: 282.5 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 15 Mins: 50 Seconds: 35

Hi Babs, HANG IN THERE SWEETIE - THIS WILL PASS, I PROMISE!!!! I was just there (the 30 day pits) and feeling that my husband was not supportive either, even though he had been hinting at my quitting for years. In my case, I had to practically pack up to go visit my Mom before my husband realized how serious I was in that I would love to have had his support. Now, I wouldn't recommend my tactics but my husband has realized after we finally opened up communication how much he really can help and participate in this quit. I think that HELP was the operative word for us. Before, he felt like he was getting all the bitterness of my quit and none of the benefits and also felt that he was powerless to do anything about it other than be a insensitive man beating his chest. You know, it has been 100% better since our controlled airing of diffences and it really helps by having him involved in a positive way. He is trying his best to understand what I am going through and how important this is to me and so tries to be much more sensitive to my needs. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it certainly is easier with him wanting to help. We are not the opposing figures anymore (or at least for now). Don't know if this is going to help you out but I wanted to let you know that the frustration will end. We just have to cut a path for ourselves. We can do this! I just know it. Babs, I think you are doing awesome! You are going through the emotions that I went through when I first quit. Keep arguing with yourself, keep working through it. It is amazing what you find on the other side of those arguments. Refuse to give in regardless of what challenges come your way. Take those challenges and use them to make yourself stronger. Someone says you can have a cigarette, they are absolutely right. You can. However, you don't want one. You know why? Because you are a non-smoker. You Don't Smoke! How Awesome is that? You have come so far in such a short time. There are prayers going up for you and that means that the blessings are coming down on you. You keep fighting. Every now and then a quitter comes a long and you just know that they have what it takes to survive this battle. You Babs, are one of those quitters. Don't let anyone keep you down. Be yourself in your own right. Stand up for you. You are doing great and you are growing. This is an exciting time. It seems like Hell I know but really, you will be so glad you made this trip. Let us know how you are feeling. Hi Babs... Here we go. Breathe in :gasp: Breathe out :8o: Breathe in :gasp: Breathe out :8o: Breathe in :gasp: Breathe out :8o: Welcome to what is commonly known as the 30 day pit. It is a time in your quit when everything seems to go to pot and you begin to find yourself in a downward tailspin. Get a grip and hold on tight. This is a hell of a fight you are in for but you can do it! By your own admition you see you have made it through several difficult situations already. Put the skills you learned in getting through those sitations to use here. You have to dig deep because this is hard. Deep breaths and one step at a time. This doesn't last forever. I promise. You will get through this. Kick, scream, fight, break dishes, whatever it takes....just don't smoke. Once you get through this you are going to feel so much better. Get out your ice water and your coping skills you used in the very beginning. They still work. Oh and by the way, you outlet is us. Use us. That is why we are here. Hi Babs, NOthing is being taken away from you, dear. You are rejecting those junkie thoughts that want to keep you a slave to nicotine. You are giving up the increased chance of lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema, bronchitis, and early death. You are giving up smelling like an ashtray, (your hair, your clothes, your breath). You are giving up high blood pressure and lack of oxygen to your brain! I know that you are having a BAD time right now. But, slowly try and turn your attitude around to be positive and so thankful that you are not a slave to nicotine any longer. Freedom from nicotine is wonderful. You can do it!
