When I posted this thread, I promissed to give an update when things started to look better. So after some 40 days of "space" hell, few ruined dates and alot of delagating at work, I must say that I now have days of sharpness and focus here and there. It started last week, when I had one good day. Today is also a good day. Even the bad days have their better moments... So I guess I can confirm what others claim. It does eventually go away...At least it's starting to for me. I'll keep you posted... Hi I also can relate. I started to have difficalties with remembering words. The word would be on the tip of my tong and yet I don't remember it. Strange. Still going on and I am on day 59 in my quit. Also, did anybody started to have nausea after the quit and if yes, how long it lasted? Actually I just experienced these symptoms for about 4 days well into the quit. I've decided that there really isn't much concrete data to let a person know what and when to expect things while quitting- perhaps its naive to expect that; but I personally feel it would be better to prepare someone for some hellacious and unpredictable times than to make it seem like after the first week, it's all better. Just my opinion. Hang tough! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 116 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,655 Amount Saved: $1044 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 3 Mins: 0 Seconds: 10

Hi Lucky!!! Boy, oh boy, I sure did relate to what you were saying. I had all of them. They lasted somewhere in the 5-6 week range for me. However, I still experience a little bit here and there!! But it not bothersome anymore! Anyhow, there was a member here, not that long ago, that had a severe case of the fog. Since it didn't lighten up, she went to the doctor, and found out she had an ear infection. Point being, if you feel these symptoms are not quite right, it sure doesn't do any harm to get them checked out by the doctors!! Thank you for listing the things that have helped you! The water and walking have helped me too!! Congratulations on your 39 day mark today! Keep it up! I had this very badly, I also have a similar smoking history. I am close to 90 days and this is just beginning to lift. I would say that my ability to speak at a better than 8th grade level came back about a week ago ;-). Seriously, most of the time that I have thought about smoking has to do with making these symptoms go away. My was also accompanied by depression, which made it all the more pronounced. The last week for me has been the most hopeful that I have had. I really am beginning to not only feel "normal", but down right good. I think for some of us these symptoms certainly do last more than a couple of weeks. I didn't want to take any chemicals/drugs like zyban simply because I wanted my brain chemistry to find "normal" on its own and as quickly as possible. (I'm also just wierd about drugs). Like you, I found these symptoms very troubling and I'm am grateful that I have been doing my job for 4 years and managed to delegate and survive the worst of it. I am so glad that this phase is finally coming to a close. Hey, that forgeting why you are going somewhere...that can also be a symptom of stress in your life. Or not paying attention. And breathing to deep and to often can cause hyperventilation with resulting dizziness. Fresh air and new stressors don't you just love it? Sometimes it's just age. Thanks for the update, Luckyguy. Glad to hear it's starting to clear for you a bit. It does keep getting better, slowly, over time. One day you'll realize you haven't noticed it for a while and that will be a really good feeling. Congratulations on 80 (close enough) days quit!
