I'm new and on my 1st day.

Hi everyone! I had to change my name because I couldn't get in. Today is my 3rd nicotine free day. Hubby is out of town for a few days so I could smoke w/o guilt but that would just set me back. It has been really hard to sleep and I still want to go out to the backyard to smoke, but I'm staying away from there and have no cigarettes around. Thanks for welcoming me! T. :)

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

I smoked my last cigarette yesterday at 5pm so it's almost been a full day for me. I hate this! It's all I think about. I have quit many, many times before. The last time being the longest time of 2 yrs and 8 months that I stayed a non smoker. I really thought I would never go back to smoking. That was until I started college again and then I just went to smoking a pack a day in no time. My husband threatens me all the time, "If you don't stop smoking, blah, blah, blah," so I'm just sick of that. I'm definitely not quiting for the right reasons but it's either that or murder. T.

I've had a hard time sleeping as well. I've been using Tylenol pm at night to get me over the hump and keep me well rested. If you are not opposed to using medication ... I would suggest it ... it is helping me. Hi TexasT. I don't know about you ... but when people ride my butt or tell me what I should and should not be doing ... it irritates me and makes me want to rebel. I've been that way all my life. I have had to learn to drown people out that talk to me that way. I change my perception of their words in my mind to make it work FOR me instead of AGAINST me. Concentrate on why YOU want to quit and you will be successful. Hi Texas! Welcome to the best support group on line! We have a lot in common. I too came back on quit number 9? I think. There have been so many I've lost count. And like you the last time I quit for over 2 years. I went away on a girls weekend and thought I could have just "one" smoke. WRONG. And now here I am again. I hope you are quitting for YOU and not just for your husband. I think you know that if youre not quitting for yourself it will never work. Hang in there. The day is almost over and it does get better. I Remember my last quit and getting to the point where I didnt even think about smoking anymore. You must remember that too?! Im away for the long weekend but I will check back to see how you are doing next week. Stay strong, stay quit! Hiya T. There is no kidding ourselves. Quitting smoking sucks. It's hard. Yet it's also easy. You just have to want to be a non-smoker more than you want to be a smoker. Take a look around here. Read posts. Work through the quitting tools on the left hand side of the screen. See if that doesn't help make up your mind that you really do WANT to quit. Find your inspiration. For me, it was realizing the significant health problems I've been having. Swollen Legs, serious pulmonary issues. I'm 36 years old. It's frickin stupid for me to have these issues at 36 years old. Do YOU want to have those issues? Lemme tell you how much it sucks. Maybe that will help. Maybe it won't. Find your desire. Then just do it.
