Day 3 and I dont want to break

18 years ago 0 1 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I quit May 15. Since then these voices in my head talk me into just one more cig but my response is to say NO loudly and if thats not enough I whack my head. Not real hard just enough to shut the voices up. It works for me and my husband laughs hysterically as I say tell the voices off and scream at them and slap myself in the back of my head.

I'm also using a rubber band. I have had it on my wrist since I quit smoking. I don't snap it on my wrist. I just use it to keep my hands busy. It seems to help. I will be playing with it and not even realize it. Ryan Water water and more water - it takes my cravings away and a nice peice of sugar free gum followed by more water Keep going think one hour ahead at a time and congratulate yourself on passing that hour. Ryan I'm with you on this one, Iofund the first week tough too at work and no matter how busy I was the cravings wouldn't stop, it was easy been sat at home doing nothing. I can know but it down to habit, it was at certain times of the day at work that I would normally have a cig that the cravings were the worst - you have to keep telling yourself that is habit, you don't need one, keep going it will get better I'm two days off my two week mark and never thought I would get to this point but I have. Keep telling yourself that a habit cannot beat you! Hey Ryan - you are doing great - it gets easier really it does. I am at day 25 and the time is starting to fly. The five minute rule works - and just helps you get your minds off quitting. Pretty soon it's longer and longer before you think of it. I'm still going strong and most of all I am proud of myself - no more smokey smell - that's the greatest - and a clear throat. I definitely have more energy - all the good things - this support group is great - if you are experiencing anything they help you by just being here - always Good Luck - Keep it UP!!! Ive noticed everyone saying "sugar-free" candy, and "sugar-free" gum. Am I missing an important detail with the sugar-free stuff? If I am, please tell me. Cant believe you guys never had Swedish Fish growing up. You missed out, haha. Anyway, day 4 seems more easier than day 3. But I am chalking that up to everyones advice that ive gotten from this thread. Im chugging water, breathing deep, ignoring other smokers, and about an hour ago I started that gumband thing. So thanks again everyone. I had my last one friday evening and after I stomped it out, I crushed my remaining pack and gave it to my gf to get rid of, scrubbed my hands and mouth with soap so i couldnt smell any smoke on myself, changed my clothes, sprayed Oust throughout my whole apartment, and slapped on a patch. Everything went well over the weekend, only a few cravings that I beat, but today is horrible. My day one of not smoking at work. Im craving bad and I feel like Im going to break because I know that I can bum one off of a co worker. I dont want to break and I need some influence to get through the day.
