Hi Pit! I would definately stay away from alcohol. You are too new to jeapordize your quit. I would wait for a few weeks and see how you are doing before even considering alcohol. It has ruined many quits. Please consider giving that up right now. Hi Pitstop, I too got to the point where I had just had enough of smoking, in particular the way my life had to revolve around it rather than the other way round. This is a great site and yes it does help a lot to know that there are others in exactly the same situation as you. Hi Pitstop, Welcome. If you want to quit more than you want to smoke, then this is the place for you! Please use the tools on the left to help you find out how to handle your "triggers". Are you using an NRT or going cold turkey? Do you have a date set? This is a tough road ahead but you will not believe all the good things that you will feel and learn about yourself!! It is soo worth it. Keep us posted on how you're doing. We LOVE new quitters! Welcome to the SSC. Try doing the program to the left here, it gives some great ideas on quitting and maintaining your quit. Read and post here all you can, theres some great advice being handed out by the members here who have all done it and are still working at it. Its not easy but its worth it! Pitstop, some people gain a "significant" amount of weight. But those folks are the ones who don't do anything to curb their eating. Nearly everyone gains at least a little. But watching what goes into your mouth and increasing your exercise will help with that. Meanwhile, don't worry about the weight right now. Focus on your quit today. Take one day at a time. Good luck! Pit, You may want to concentrate on lots of water and low calorie snacks and veggies to help you through. It is a good idea to keep yourself out of tempting situations until you are more comfortable with your quit. If this can't be done, then always have a coping mechanism by your side to help.
