un, I'm glad to see that you have been smoke free for so long, keep up the good work!! N.O.P.E helps to keep me in check and remind me that even one puff is out of the question because it can only lead to smoking again. kat My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 190 Amount Saved: $45 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 7 Seconds: 32

come June 15th, I will be at 6 months without buying a pack! I admit I have taken a few puffs since off friends cig's since, but haven't done that for over a month. I tried for 5 years to quit, the last attempt ( summer 2004) lasting a whole 2 days. I still wonder how I am pulling off almost 5 months. I had a mouth cancer scare (turned out to be gingivitis and post-nasal drip). After seeing that my life ( I'm 22) could have ended so short, I knew it was time to change. My mother had lost her mother to smoking before I ws born, and our first dog to cancer when he was only 4. I just couldn't do this to her after all she has done for me, and thats what made me drop it. What has been my main drive to keep off nicotine was me remebering my childhood dreamto be a pro-wrestler. I now hit the gym 5 days a week, and run 10 miles+ a week. I guess I came to a cross roads and I could either become a cancer patient, or a wrestler... a wrestler sounds much better.

I must say to eveyone out there trying to quit, I used Nicorette gum and found it actually can help out immensely. I would suggest combine Nicorette and your cigg replacment (straw, twizler, toothpick) at the same time. I used mine with some fake snuff, and most of the time it did the trick.

A pro-wrestler! That's incredible. I'm on day 3 of giving up (my milage only says 2, but i'm in Australia), and it's SO challenging! I've been going to the gym everyday to distract myself, but my body is starting to fatigue and tonight i really feel like lighting up. Instead i've come on-line to read some reasons to control these urges. Your letter has been helpful as i can relate to aspiring to be extremely fit. Thanks for stopping me going to the store! Smiles Cass

Hi unccexsmoker, 5 times a week in the gym? With all those endorphines going round your head, you'll not have any room in there to think about smoking! I find that running helps keep any black moods at bay. Keep going with your quit and remember N.O.P.E (Not One Puff Ever) as even one cigarette smoked during your quit can at best set you back, or at worst restart your life as a regular smoker. All the best, Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,374 Amount Saved: 592.5 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 4 Mins: 37 Seconds: 22
