Hello Babs, well this is your quit day so I have just checked in to wish you a very happy smoke free day from those of us in the UK. It's your 3rd attempt so I suppose you know what to expect. I have found this site a life saver, particularly in the early days. If you need any help, support or advice, you know where to come!! Hey Babs- You should be so proud for your determination! I am very interested in hearing about how the Laser treatment goes for you. I did one session with a hypnotist, because I knew going into this my subconscious would be the problem once I got past the physical addiction. It seems to have helped me. My motivation to quit this time is many things, but mostly my dear sweet brother. He, too, is disabled, 55 years old, and has few friends. I think he could definately relate to you when you say once you couldn't go anywhere b/c of your mobility, you don't seem to have as many friends. He does have a handful of very loyal ones that have stuck by him no matter what. Anyway, since he is mostly homebound, cigarettes became his best friend. I'd say he was up to two-three packs a day, and it was getting so that I thought my sister and I should be preparing for his illnesses - whatever came first. It was obvious that a smoking related illness would be his fate. Sure enough, this past Jan., he was diagnosed with emphysema after a nasty bout with bronchitis. His dr. was unyielding - stop smoking now or you will be dead soon, and furthermore, I won't see you as a patient unless you stop. Well, he did - and so did his sisters and younger brother. It's been hard for him, but he is now almost 4 months smoke free! I am here for you, I do relate to the special circumstances you must go through. I can say I know my brother has had a much harder time than anyone not disabled would have had. After all, I can always go for a walk when I have an urge! But he can't! But you can do this!!! You need to stick close to this site for a while. It will help more than you know. There are many very compassionate people here, and they are very giving! Please know you've come to the right place!! Bless you! Hi Babs, Thanks for checking in and letting everyone know what is going on. There are many people who quit without using NRT's so you can too. You sound like I did before I quit. Something just clicks and you are ready. I will be interested to hear about your laser treatment. I have heard the name, but I have no idea what they do in the procedure. Hi Babs, Welcome. You will never have to feel lonely again. There are lots of great people here who love to listen and help when they can. A big pat on the back to you for choosing to quit! I don't know a thing about Laser therapy, I don't believe we have it here where I live, but I'm sure others will be along shortly to give you some info. Let us know how it goes tomorrow. NSA girl, please give your brother a big hug for me. How amazing for him to quit!! Hi babs. I'm so glad to hear your treatments went so well. It sounds like you have enough cleaning to keep you busy for a while. :) Keeping busy was very important to me in the first month of my quit. I cleaned everything in sight. Even my junk drawers, closets and my pets! When the cleaning was done, I moved on to painting 2 rooms and a hallway. Also laid a new floor in my bedroom! Between all that and my full time eating job, lol., I kept thoughts of smoking mostly out of my mind. I hope you have a great night, and tomorrow when you post, you'll have some numbers showing on your meter!! Yippee!! Keep Strong, redrosie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 115 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,782 Amount Saved: $954.5 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 6 Mins: 59 Seconds: 40
