Luna and Lady, Thanks so much. Now I have tears from reading your posts. I have always been the strong one so now feeling like the weak one is another hard thing for me to except. I am super mom and I usally do things myself and don't ask for much help. I usally figure the time it takes me to ask or tell somone else to do I would have it already done myself. Im not going to worry about the house tonight. Since I know baby will get me up early I will have from 6:30am till 2:00pm to get ready. I just usally like to be more prepaired than this. I sent my hubby out to get some movies and to get me a banana split. Then we are going to spend the rest of the night together. He has been so great threw all this and is always asking me what I want or what I need. I just don't usally have an answer for him. I don't know what I want or what I need to make me feel better sometimes. I know I can do this and really can't even believe I have made it this far. I know I will never be able to be a social smoker so im in the N.O.P.E. Club. So this has to be one of my worst days yet. I got up this morning after not sleeping well last night, but I have my baby on a great schedule so when it come 6:30am she really doesn't care that I didn't go to bed till 3:30 am. Today I felt like heart was beating really fast and it was making it hard for me to breath. I tried to take a nap when the baby napped cause that has always worked for me in the past when I was feeling this way, but not today. I couldn't fall asleep. So I did the next best thing that was recommended to me from all my support on SSC. I drank lots of Ice water and did some deep breathing. That didn't help either. It just made me pee more often. I was walking around my house trying to keep busy and felt like was a zombie on auto pilot. Finially about 4:00pm this afternoon I finially was able to lay down and take a nap. I slept till it was supper time about 6:30. I'm having a gathering at my house tomorrow for easter and I didn't get a thing done today. My house has toys scattered about and the more I think about my wasted day the less energy I have. I need some other Idea's to get me threw a day like today. I didn't feel like I needed to smoke but I have a feeling my hubby was wishing I was (not really he's always been a non-smoker and is so excited for me). I read alot on SSC today and bumped an old post I found usefull for us that are early in our quit. I still having some of that racing heart action and im still deep breathing any other suggestions?? That is exactly how I have felt for the last 4 days now....no energy....brain fog...sore, scratchy / itchy throat, dry cough.... Burst into tears today about a million times...Hubby is in a foot boot b/c of bunion surgery 2 mons. ago so he acts like everything is for and about him....kids arguing...and I am so stressed out at the moment, I cant even think straight.... Family coming to visit tomorrow and I cant even muster enough energy to even attempt the house.... Hi and Happy Easter, I can relate. I found it actually hard to clean my house. One of the things they tell you to do it keep your mind busy and do projects around the house but in the begining it was hard to clean the house becasue I realized it was a trigger for me. When I clean my house and finished mopping or cleaning the bathroom I would go on the porch for a cig for alittle break. So I would go on the computer or bury myself in a show. I found that had helped alot. Now I can clean my house although I do sometimes want to still have a cig. I will now run on the computer for my break.This is not an easy challeng but it is one we must do. we are all having the same issues so that is another reason this is a great site. I see lady has responded to your post and she does not know this but she has been a great inspiration and help for me. She has responded to alot of my post and has gotten me through this and there are many other great people. Good luck and we will all do this. Alleyann... Sweetie.. take it easy and be good to yourself. 16 days into your quit and you are fighting like a champ. These people that are coming over tomorrow... Are they comming to see you or your house? Get hubby to help you pick up some. Tell him that you are having a really hard time right now. It's tough. Ask him to be patient and help you out a bit. Do what you can and forget the rest. Five years from now no one will remember, probably not even you. You have quit smoking and that is so huge. It is probably the hardest thing you will ever do in your life. The heart racing thing is probably anxiety from knowing how much you have to do and really not having the energy to do it. Let it go.... Keep taking the deep breaths. Something that Joyfulspirit and I do all the time is close your eyes and relax every muscle in your body. Start with the toes and work your way up. Take a full two minutes to do this. It releases a lot of the anxiety too. You will get back on track and life will go back to normal. It just takes time. Look at all the years you smoked. Your body is really going through a lot of changes right now. Hang in there and stop beating yourself up. Today was not wasted. Today was another day toward the freedom you are fighting for. Today was another day with your husband and your child. Today was a blessing from God. The freedom from smoking is worth every bit of agony you are going through right now. I promise. During my second week, my husband (who sooo wanted me to quit) actually screamed at me to go outside and smoke. That's how unbearable I was to live with! I slept and sobbed most of the first month. In between times I had to cope, like moving my mother into an Alzheimers unit. Ice water was a life saver. So was anger. Getting damn mad at this addiction. How awful it is. How it enslaved me. Instead of feeling deprived, I got royally pissed off. Someone suggested garage sale dishes and throwing them at trees or smashing them (with eye protection) in a cardboard box. I loved this idea. Start a notebook of your favorite posts. Read them when you are away from your computer. Make a list of all of the coping mechanisms you read about here. From sane to insane (like dishes at trees) Sleep. sob. Scream. Space out. Do anything...just don't smoke. The only way to become a non smoker is to not smoke. DUH. Took me awhile to grasp that profound concept. Make it through each minute. Protect your quit at ALL costs. Make it the very most important thing in your life. The house can be dirty. Toys can be everywhere. You and your husband may temporarily be on the outs. Your babe may not get super mom. But this is your very LIFE you are fighting for. There will never be a better or an easier time. Get mad enough to decide to end your enslavement no matter what withdrawal throws your way. Thankfully it gets better. In the midst of your misery, you, like those before you, will have to accept that on blind faith! BELIEVE!!! This is possible! Ann - Hope you have a nice party today. Happy Easter. I so identified with your statement "I usually do things for myself and don't ask for much help." I am a sort of a super achiever too. It was very difficult for me to turn into this babbling idiot who had little resemblance to the sane, even, competent me. The equilibrium left our house. So did harmony. So did my sense of well being. Thankfully, the people here helped prepare me for this. And I believed those that told me that this was temporary. They were RIGHT! Have faith. Breathe deep.
