Ok, I had a a few puffs off of a cigarette today. I'm not going to make any excuses. I probably could have gotten through the day without any but I guess I have to be honest and say that I wanted it. I haven't had any for over 5 hours and I don't even want one. I answered honestly on my daily thing...I had a minor slip. It's minor because it didn't make me want to go buy cigarettes, I didn't say oh well since I'm smoking 1 I might as well smoke more (tho the thought did occur to me) and I didn't stress over it. It's done. Today is almost. I'm not sure I can do this right now. Last night we got a phone call from my daughters best friend. She was hysterical. Her father beat her up. We picked her up and our neighbor who is a nurse checked her out. She has a broken nose and bruising on her forehead & chest. We took pictures. I called CPS this morning. I'm stressed. I want a cigarette. This brings back memories except I was the victim. Another thing right now is my ex husband is dying of cancer. My older daughter and I went back to Cali to say goodbye to him. The dr. gives him 1 to 3 weeks to live. I'm even more stressed. Is this the right time to quit? I want a cigarette soooo bad right now. My chest hurts. I wanna cry. We didn't get to bed until 3am because of all this stuff going on. Should I just set another quit date? Tugs on the tied rope line...Hey Milaya! It's going to be fine, just read THIS -the Junkie Thinking post. HANG IN THERE GIRL. Listen to all the above advice, each person before me here is absolutely CORRECT. You're JUNKIE is workin on ya because he knows where to hit you when you are down and stressed. Mine does it too. All our junkies work in the same way. I have a theory that there is a Junkie club where they all get together and sit around thinking of ways to get us next. Apparently the movie "Thank you for smoking" has something similar involved in the plot where the M.O.D.'s (Modalities Of Death) sit around and look for ways to knock people off their life wagon too. Maybe it's a good time to give yourself a reward hon. Go see a movie with your kids or go out somewhere to a park and get some fresh air. It's day 3 and you've done phenomenally well. Time for a reward, yeah it's time girl. You deserve it, it's been a tuff 3 days! Many Blessings, Eve :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 68 Amount Saved: $24 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 18 Seconds: 22

Hi Milaya, I sure hope is going better than yesterday! And I sure hope you have put your slip aside and moved forward in your quit. Stressful events will always be there. We cannot control life. But we can control our choice on how to deal with it. I was telling my hubby this last night. I said, "I hate it when you say this quit is easy for me and not for you. It is not easy for me. I, however, choose to deal with it differently than you. I will not dwell on it. It is not poor me, I cannot have a smoke. It is HOORAY I am living. I choose to make this quit a happy one. If I wallow in my misery of wanting one, then the addiction will never cease. It will always have the upper hand on me. Of course I want one. I will always want one. The memory I have of smoking is AAAHHHH - good. But that is where it stays. A memory. Now I will create new memories. Ones that do not include a cig. I am moving forward in my new life, and embracing every new moment. Just like a newborn. Every moment they grow. They are not the same tomorrow. Nor can they go back to yesterday. That is my life now. I love it!!" Make a promise to yourself that you will find a different way to handle stress. Find a new way to release.......... Hi Milaya, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through so much right now. To answer your question, no time is ever going to be a good time. Stress and stressful situations will always come up. That is part of life. You are going to have to face it. I think the best time to quit is during these times. If you need to cry, go ahead. You will feel so much better, just don't smoke. Cigs are not going to solve your problems, they never have. You may feel better for like 5 seconds but then you are going to beat yourself up for smoking and feel like crap for several days. It's not worth it. Stay strong. Things will get better. You must deal with your problems. Good Luck!! Milaya, If you really want this quit, keep it. Stay strong through these rough times. You will someday have to learn how to handle stressful situations without a smoke, why not today? You really must ask yourself.....Will you smoking help the situation with your daughters friend? Will smoking make it less painful to loose your ex-husband? Think about that one, he's dying of cancer....you should be learning a little something there. Really, this is just junkie thinking, ole' nicodemon himself looking for ways to get you to give in again. Don't let him win. Once again, if you really want this quit, keep it!!! Now remember those coping mechanisms....breath, drink water, chew on a straw....scream, cry, yell....whatever it takes to not light up!!! Stay strong...you can get through this Sheila My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,144 Amount Saved: $355 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 18 Mins: 3 Seconds: 35

Milaya, Sorry for all your troubles. Everyone is right. There are always going to be stressful situations in our lives that we are going to have to get through without smoking. Look at it this way, if you can get through all this without smoking, you will be able to get through anything without smoking. There is never a "good" time to quit. Everyday there will be something that we think we need to smoke to get through. You can relearn to handle things without smoking. There is no better time then right now.
