Hi all... My name is Lisa and I am just finished signing up for this program. I have been a smoker for 19 years. I have tried to quit so many times (at least 7) and am still smoking. My quit date is set for June 7, in 31 days. My husband and I want to have a baby someday soon, but I want to quit smoking first. I plan to take this quit attempt very seriously. I never want to smoke again after I quit this time. I am hopeful that using this program will work, and feel lucky to have found it. Remember it is possible to quit! Hi Lisa, Wecome and so happy that you found SSC! This really is a great place to be where you will find great information AND the members here are so very helpful..belive me..its because of the members here that I've made it this far! I know you can do this. As everyone here says, preparation is so important! And then...getting online and leaning on those who have come before you when you are feeling the pull of the cravings. Look forward to seeing you on SSC as the days get closer to your quit! Hi Meece1971 and a warm welcome, You have found a wonderful place for support! There is so much information here, so spend some time reading as much as possible:) And I invite you to change your word "attempt" - in fact, what if you remove that word, and it ends up being, "quit" :) if we take out the word "attempt" see how it makes your proess so much more powerful? :) Blessings and stay strong:) Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,199 Amount Saved: $288.3 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 3 Mins: 38 Seconds: 42

Hello Meece And welcome to the Stop Smoking Centre on line forum. A great place to be smoke free. On the left there are two areas "The community", a place where you can read very inspirational stories of the people who come through this site and below are "the tools". The programs in the glove compartment were very helpful for me. Welcome. Read in this area, educate yourself about the habit and addiction of smoking, find out all you can about what, when, how and all the other reasons for your smoking. Explore, find out all the different things you can do instead of smoking. Post in this area often and don't let yourself get to far away from this site. Again, welcome, stay strong and you will get through. Look forward to hearing from you about how you are doing. Phillip :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,572 Amount Saved: $585 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 19 Mins: 21 Seconds: 28

Hi Lisa, I can relate 2U. I smoked for 20+ and tried 2quit many times before I found the SSC and made it happen. I also initially set my quit date for OVER 30 days away. However, to be honest that is not generally a good idea. Nevertheless, I spend the majority of the time reading and researching addiction and I ended up moving my quit date up...so it worked for me. Lisa I believe the "more U know" the easier it is to cope with the 'fear of quitting'. And the more U learn about ADDICTION the easier it is to find alternative ways to cope with your stress/emotions WITHOUT the death sticks. That's what cigarettes are, ya know? We start out needing them and then they need us. We no longer want them but yet we can't stop because we are no longer holding them. They have imprisoned us. The SSC was my 'key to freedom' and it can be yours too. This program has been VERY successful for countless number of people from around the globe. So make yourself at home and welcome! One of our members (cuddles) recently adopted a tag line that might be helpful to you: It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit Isn't that the truth?
