Hi Let Go!! You can do this!! Please, take it one minute at a time. It really does make it manageable. The program tools to the left are an important part of your quit. If you haven't already done so, please take the time to complete them. And just like Lady said, please come here and vent. It is not your loved ones fault that you are going through this. We are here to support and guide you - through thick and thin. Post as often as necessary. And I'm sure, since you have been here since 11/05, that you have read older threads. But if not, they are very helpful as well. So, grab lots of water, hard candies, and determination and lets walk this road together!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,993 Amount Saved: $215.82 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 8 Mins: 16 Seconds: 35

Deeper into my personal story... My mom has had depression all her life... I have to visit her on mother's day... can't do that without a cigarette... my daughter was diagnosed bi-polar a year ago and is now living with her dad... can't cope with that without a cigarette. I have some issues that have to be dealt with before I can quit for good... I need a doctor's help... I can't take the pressure of quitting and biting at people I love right now... so I made an appointment with my doctor for June 8. Haven't seen a doc in about 7 yrs... So... I'm still smoking. let go

37 year old mom... two daughters... one at home... First morning without cigarette... already had a fight with my husband about god knows what... he's at work (thank goodness) and my tears have almost dried. Feels like I'm on a freakin' loopy roller coaster already...(smoked almost 2 packs a day and going the best way for me COLD TURKEY) but this time I JUST DON'T WANT TO SMOKE! Feel tired... definately emotionally drained for the morning... breathing easier... I can feel my heart saying 'Ahh... thank you." ... Sorry, told ya I was a little outta my mind right now... thanks for your support... been here since Nov of last year I think... and now I'm quit... let go My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Thank you Lady, Josie & 4mygirls! You're support means the world to me. I keep trying. By hanging out here and reading others successes and failures I've learned a lot. Basically, it can be done! I will keep moving closer and closer to my goal until I reach it! My only problem is that I can't go cold turkey and can't handle the anxiety I feel when I try to quit. With some help from my doctor I can win this war. I know I can and WILL! Thank you! :) Sincerely, Let Go

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Welcome to the SSC Letgo and Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. Be good to yourself for the next few weeks. Quitting isn't easy and it takes a lot out of you. Be sure to check out the program tools to the left and develop a plan for when the cravings hit. Come here and vent instead of taking it out on your loved ones. That is what we are here for. It may save you a few apologies. :) The golden rule to quitting is... N.O.P.E. Not One Puff Ever. It is how we all quit. You can do it too! Let Go, This is a good day to make the choice not to smoke. And believe me when I say that although it's tough right now, you will find a time when you feel good again. The secreat to making it through is to find that spot within yourself that hangs on when the going gets tough and mark a well worn path to that place. Go there often. Don't let your mind or your circumstances get the best of you. If your a mom, then I know that you can be tough. Raising children is not for sissies. If you need to cry, go lock yourself in your room for a time out. If you want to whine to someone, come on in here...we don't take it personal. If you feel like yelling, step outside and let it go! (who cares what the neighbors say). Read everything that you can on this site. Work through the program. Make your list of survival tips. Have things for your hands to do. Get a yoyo, or play jacks (surely you remember those). Become an expert at relaxation, breath deep and often. Send your mind on a mini vacation. Block all thoughts of smoking. Its bad, ugly, unhealthy, you don't want to do it. Take a walk, listen to the birds, sounds of the country or the city (whereever). Buy some cheap breakables at the goodwill store, or yard sales. When you get mad (and you will) go outside and smash them, If you throw them into a cardboard box, they make a great sound, but not near the mess to clean up. Welcome aboard! Stick close and update us often.
