This is so hard....

Thank you so much. Those quotes are great. I also have a doodling addiction LoL, so lots of those will be doodled in the margins of my class notes this week. That should calm my nerves a little bit. I'm very lucky to have a wonderful boyfriend here, and he just quit a while ago, so he knows how hard it is and the memories are still fresh in his mind. He let me squeeze him for a few minutes and whine, and generally have a great little pity party lol. I can tell this place is going to help so much, just taking my mind off of it. You guys are great. ;p

I'm sorry, I need to vent right now. I'm currently 2 days into quitting. Yesterday was a little annoying, but certainly wasn't a struggle. Today I had to really distract myself, by cleaning, running errands, reading. For the past half hour I've been deep in a nasty crave. :8o: My chest is tight, my throat feels really weird, almost burning. I'm dizzy and I'm having a really hard time typing and seeing straight. I wasn't prepared for it to hit me this hard, this suddenly. I feel so helpless...I just want to cry right now. There are no cigarettes in the house. I took them all to the dumpster today. But I still feel like this bad time right now is a defeat, even though I'm not going to smoke.

This morning has been pretty easy. I've just been snuggling with my kitty and munching on some fruit. I have big plans to clean my bedroom, rearrange it and put in the AC, so a nice cool cleep tonight will be my reward for another smokefree day! I made it through. I eventually just went to sleep, because it was sort of late anyway. I woke up this morning with only half the patch on, and only a teeny tiny bit of craving. :) My boss called me this morning to see if I wanted to get some extra hours in...but as much as I want the money, I need to stay home today to get a better grip on how to handle the craves before I go back to work where there are smokers, and customers who might get on my last nerve. Thanks for the help guys!

I made it through another day - whoo hoo!! Last night I had a rough spot, but I made it through (after apologizing to my kids for going bezerk). Today I think I got it. I now know the feeling will probably never go away for a long, long time. The feeling I think I get is getting mad at the world for having to go through this day after day after day. Some days are easier to deal with it and others, take some digging deep within. The key for me this time is knowing that I can have a cigarette if I want, BUT I CHOOSE NOT TO ANYMORE. Gosh I hope this attitude stays with me!! Here is a little collection of quotes I got from another post. I'm sure you can find the origial post down the line but I pulled these out of it and made a document out of it and posted it all over my house. tomorrow is my quit date and I have done a lot of these things to get ready. Also, write a letter to your nicodemon. I posted mine today or yesterday. If you do a search on my name you will probly find it. I also taped that to my mirror. Anyways, I hope these things help: We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible. Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. The only courage that matters is the kind that gets you from one moment to the next. You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face... you must do the thing you think you cannot do. The important thing about your lot in life, is whether you use it for parking, or for building. Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them. You will find that they haven't half the strength you think they have. Many of lifes failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. If we did the things we were capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves. The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat. Feel the fear and do it anyway! It is not a defeat. Not at all. What you are feeling is part of the roller coaster ride. So hang on. Use your coping skills, drink water, eat hard candy, stay busy, read positive posts, post & vent, take a nap, exercise, do what ever you need to do ... this will pass. They don't call it Hell Week for nothing. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Just keep making it through one minute at a time if you have to. Talk back to that craving. Tell it to go away. It is just your addiction talking to you. Tell it that is not welcome anymore that you are a non-smoker whether it likes it or not. Fake it till you make it if you have to anything. Just don't give up on your quit ... Persevere! We are here for you!
