This is so hard....

Hi Rainne, I hope that you're feeling a bit better. There are so many ups & downs during the quit process, many of them different for each person. I guess it's 'cause we all have a different chemical make up or something. One thing that helps me through the hard days is the knowledge that this horrible feeling is CREATED by the cigarettes! Non-smokers don't ever have it! And then I take a deep breath (and then another and then another), grit my teeth and be thankful that I'm not creating more horrible nicotine withdrawals for myself - because I'm not a nicotine user anymore! Keep hanging in there - it gets easier every day. I had a bad day on day 14. But my Day 14 bad day wasn't as bad as my Day 2 bad day. As time goes by (and time will pass however bad you feel) the bad days get easier to deal with and the good days get more fantastic! Day 15 was excellent. Take Care chickstarr :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 479 Amount Saved: $187.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 22 Seconds: 24

Rainne: Sorry to hear you're feeling so terrible. If you smoked right now, you would feel worse and it would not make any of these things better. The physical things you are feeling are normal. Be gentle with yourself, take the nap, drink more water and try to relax, you have been really BUSY today, plus your quitting is VERY tiring for the first week. It's mentally exhausting! Take one minute at a time. Deep breath in, exhale out, repeat. think peaceful thoughts. Drink some more water. You will get through it. Get our your list of reasons why you wuit and read it outloud when you are comfortable. One step at a time, one foot in front of the other. Stay strong and keep posting. The computer is your best friend right now. Let us know how you're doing... Well hello again Rainne!! I understand and remember what you are going through. The dizziness, sore throat, and the chest ache ~ luckily though, you can think of these as healing things. This is your bodys way of healing from the poisons that you put in it. Just remember that this is temporary. Hell week is just that. Have you completed the tools on the left?? They are so important!!! Take care of yourself right now. Be kind to yourself. And it is okay to cry and sleep. That is what I did for my first week!!! Remember to drink lots of water!! Oh, and one more thing. Don't dwell on a crave. The more you think about it, the longer it will last. When it hits you, take some deep breaths and reconize it as a craving. While you are breathing, say to yourself that this is a crave, and it will pass; I do not smoke anymore; This will pass. Then you MUST change your thoughts. Get out a CD, or ipod, and listen to music. Get up and force yourself to take a walk. Bring your music and water bottle along. It really will help! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 88 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,653 Amount Saved: $287.76 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 2 Mins: 47 Seconds: 57

Rainne, I'm glad you made it through the craving. Whatever you have to do... just don't smoke! It's quite a ride, isn't it? But you'll make it through just fine. You seem to have a great determination and that will get you far in this quitting process. Hang tough and don't give up! And post whenever you need to! There's always somebody here to help! Crave the Quit! Rainne, Great job on those 2 days. You are right...it is HARD. But it is well worth it in the long run. And it will get better. I see a bubble bath in your future. Maybe some herbal tea, some mellow music and oooh what about some candles. All things to try to quiet your nerves a bit. Do cry if you need to but soon you will have 3 days behind you and then 4, 5 and before you know it a week. Just think, if you don't trudge forward now eventually you'd face these first two days all over again. Now THAT would be hard :) Stay Strong Sandra My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 664 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,299 Amount Saved: $2988 Life Gained: Days: 49 Hrs: 5 Mins: 26 Seconds: 28
