I have for the past week. Today I finish the quit plan you guys provide. Thank you very much for that. There are alot of examples and suggestions that I'm going to use. By the way, does anyone use the SSC messenger? If so let me know, I think talking to people in my position will help me :)

Hello again all, tomorrow is my big day. I've been trying to prepare myself for the past week, I've actually been cutting down quite a bit by waiting longer when I wake up to light up and just holding out when I feel the urge. But today I've had this sudden resurgence in my smoking like I'm making it okay in my mind to be a chimney because tomorrow's my quit date. I'm excited yet very nervous of failure, I mean I've smoked for 17 years, it's all I know. I don't know, it's like the closer I get the more doubts I'm having of my success. I was going to use NRT's, I went to the doc to get a prescription and find out that I no longer have insurance. Unfortunately I'm absolutely broke right now so I am going to have to try cold turkey, not good. Well wish me luck I am definetly going to need it. :confuse:

Welcome Commit2me! It sure sounds like you are on the right track! I am a cold-turkey quitter! It is rough those first 3 days. I was shakey, tired, hungry and spaced out! (I'm still a bit spacey, but hey, I think its growing on me) It felt like I had a craving that lasted all day. However, I came here. I looked at old posts, read and read some more. It truely helps. So does water!!! Keep your supply up. You will need them for a long time to come! I do remember the day before my quit date. I think I smoked 1 pack of cigs in 3 hours! Oh boy, that is gross.............. I decided on about the 6th day that this is what I wanted. I do not miss anything to do with smoking. Before that time, I did feel like I had lost something. I now know what that was. I miss it NO MORE!!! I have accepted that I will never smoke again. I will keep fighting to not smoke........ You can do it! You are already on your way. Congrats on your life changing decision! Please post often. We would love to be by your side on your journey! I am kind of a newbie myself. I quit for a year with help of this site but went back to smoking for 5 months. Very bad idea, but you know what, with the help of this site it CAN be done, becuase no one here is going to ever get sick of you complaining about how much it sucks or bragging about how good you have done. Please do brag, do get your feelings out, it is why this site is here! HELLO COMMIT2ME, we are all her to do anything that we can to encourage you. What ever it takes believe that you can do this quit. As I have said before there have been days that I didn't think I was going to make it and I just kept saying: "I CAN", so far that has worked for me. You and Penquin hold each others hands and hold on tight and fight. I know that you both can do this and one day you will be a leader!! BELIEVE AND KEEP ON BELIEVING!! Commit Welcome aboard and congratulations on your decision to quit. Sure you can do this cold turkey, after all it only takes 3 days for all nicotine to be out of your system, after that it's only the mental withdrawals. Just try to take it one hour, one crave at a time and know that things do get easier with time. Breath, drink lots of water and come here to read and post as much as you can, that really helps the time go by quickly. Good luck tomorrow, let us know how you're doing Sheila ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 51 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,554 Amount Saved: $255 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 4 Mins: 5 Seconds: 19
