Nikki,
CONGRATULATIONS on your decision to tackle your addiction to Nicotine! I went cold turkey too, and in the long run, I think that was the right decision for me.
If you can, meditate. That helps me a lot. I get out when I can to walk, that not only helps with the smoking cessation, but it also helps with any weight issues that might arise from nervous eating while in the beginning quit stages.
I repeat this one a lot, because it keeps me focused more than anything else: Count to 8: 1001, 1002, 1003...1008, and then remind yourself that someone dies every 8 seconds due to a tobacco related illness. That almost always gets me through a bad patch.
Another thing to remember: The average nicotine craving lasts less that five minutes. That's not too long to stay strong.
You've got a great community here to whine/rant/brag/talk/question and be part of. Enjoy the SSC community and don't forget your Glove Compartment, if you haven't already been there.
Peace,
Jackey
