Thanks for all the great info. I haven't gained more than 5 pounds in this month, but I have been eating much more. Taste soooo good. I can't afford to gain a bunch, my daughter is getting married June 2 and I already have my dress!!!! Hubby goes back to 2nd shift Monday, so I will be eating supper alone, hope that helps me cut back some. And I hope I can keep a handle on the evening snacking, cuz he works till l0 pm. I plan to put a bunch of your ideas to work. Christine, Sounds like your doing great. I too have never had a weight problem until this quit. Now my weight is like a yo-yo, up one week, down the next. Overall I've gained about 15 pounds in six weeks, I want it off now. I'm not that good at following a "diet" so I've just started buying fat-free or reduced fat everything and watch the calories more closely than normal. Only time will tell how this works out. You should check with your deli to see if they have the Sun Dried Tomato Basted Turkey...lots of wonderful flavor with the same low fat, low cal benefits. Rock on Sister...I am sooo glad you are here! Thanks for all the wonderful ideas...I have been trying to eat better and exercise too the last couple of weeks...I had to find something to occupy my time without the internet or cable...lol... I do slip up somedays, but I don't beat myself up over it...I look at it like this...I am not rewarding or comforting myself with a cigarette...And I never heard of anyone getting cancer from Girl Scout cookies...LOL...Pretty much if I eat something I know is not really great for me, I just try not to eat the whole package... (giggle)... I also started that Core Secrets program with the big workout ball...WOW...What a great workout...and it's actually fun! I like to take power walks too...I just wish it would warm up a bit...I am too young to be a mall walker...lol... Check in soon...I want my jeans to loosen up too! :p Knight Amy My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 46 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,409 Amount Saved: $172.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 22 Mins: 52 Seconds: 30

Hi all.. I started a new low metabolism/low fat diet and it is just working incredibly. I actually woke up this morning and my fat jeans are loose. Oh my God.. it feels so good. I had never had trouble with my weight before.. and in fact do not even own a scale. When I gained this weight I was freaked out.. but some changes and it's coming off. I thought that I had probably gained about 10 pounds.. but when I weighed at the doctor and saw it was 20 pounds.. I knew I had to do something. I hope this can help someone else.. it sure helped me. I bought a few things to reduce the fat and some to burn the fat. 1. I replaced cooking oil with Pam one buttered flavor and one canola(walmart brand) 2. I replaced my margarine with Country crock plus calcium in the big tub. The difference is 15gm of fat/tablespoon ---> 5gm of fat/tablespoon. 3. I replaced regular bacon with Louis Rich Turkey bacon. The difference in fat is a little more than half. (I discovered this a few years ago.. never went back.. tastes too good) SouthBeach Diet 4. For lunch, turkey sandwich. I get turkey breast. Don't buy the pressed stuff(yuck..) get the roasted and smoked if you like smoked. The good news... 98% at free. You can eat all of this you want. Watch the mayonaise. spread really really thin..add lettuce and tomato and wela ! If you want cheese.. just get lowfat cheese.. it tastes great. 5. I switched regular chips for baked chips. Baked tortilla chips and salsa.. almost fat free. Eat as much as you want. Spicy is also good for your metbolism.. raises it. 6. Buy prepared vegetables. Like baby carrots and precut celery and packaged salad. They cost more for sure but, if they are around in this ready to eat form.. you will eat them. Watch the ranch dressing..I haven't found a low fat replacement that I like.. I just eat less or water it down a little. If anyone know a brand.. PLEASE tell me. 7. oranges and apples are both great to speed up your metabolism.. fat free. 8. I have begun drinking NO SODAS !! Okay one every few days as a treat. I replaced with Tampico orange juice.. (I like the Mango one and the fruit punch). Also Cranberry-Grape Juice.. both .. NO FAT !! And even better 100% or more vitamin C.. Vitamin C breaks down fat so you will lose it faster

Hey all.. I hope this helps someone else because I am sure seeing the results. I was at 150 lbs and this morning I am at 145 lbs. This is in 3 days. It really helps to see a light at the end of the road on this weight thing. The no smoking has done a lot for my self esteem, I believe too. My non-smoking friends seem closer now and more friendly.. (they probably know the smell is gone.. lol) My smoking friends mostly are a little distant.. but they will come around I figure. The dried tomato turkey sounds awesome.. I'm gonna look next time I'm at the store. I'm not gonna feel bad if I slip a little about eating because I know I will get this weight off eventually. Thanks guys.. luck to all of us on dieting !! Christine, I hope you don't mind I'm printing this off. I need things to be written down to keep them in mind. Thank you so much.....I'm coming up on a year of not smoking, and the weight gain has been to much for me. Seeing how good you are doing makes me feel positive that I can do it too. Again thank you so much. *hugs* My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 323 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,470 Amount Saved: $1615 Life Gained: Days: 43 Hrs: 23 Mins: 54 Seconds: 21

Thanks for sharing the info. I try to follow that too and for the most part I do, just the occasional slips. This gave me some more great ideas.
