Mondays

Hi there. My boyfriend is also a non smoker and on the weekends I would not smoke that much. But boy come Monday morning...I couldnt wait to get to work and smoke! I find it funny that I use to look forward to my breaks and lunch so I could hide somewhere and smoke but now that I have quit, I dont even take work breaks anymore. I kept really strong and finally got over the "Monday smoking" habit. I eventually got over most of the "habit" parts of smoking. I sometimes have small cravings when I drive but they dont last long and are over in no time. Sorry no real advice just only knowing that it will be forgotten and you will fill that void with something good, fun and healthy :) Take care. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Mondays seem to be a really hard day for me not to smoke. It's like I used smoking as a jump-start into my day every day, but I need it more on Monday than any other day. Plus, after a weekend with my non-smoking boyfriend, doing fun stuff and not thinking about cigarettes, it's a trigger to come back to my officer where I used to chain smoke. Anybody else have a Monday-specific crave and how did you deal with it? Thanks! Hi, Quitter. The only specific crave I think I still have is long-term driving on a freeway. When my wife and I would take a road trip, I'd use smoking as a way to pass time and stay awake. She'd curl up in the back with the dog and sleep through the boring parts. I haven't tested this yet, but I've had some hints from some day trips we've taken. How to get through it? The same way I've dealt with others in the past. I tell myself it is only temporary and every time I get past one I weaken the next. Sometimes only once is all it takes, sometimes it may take a few encounters. But eventually the association link between the activity and smoking will be broken and that's one step closer to freedom. Hang in there, Quitter. 52 days is awesome! One year is even better. You'll get there, one day at a time. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 336 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,732 Amount Saved: $1276.8 Life Gained: Days: 62 Hrs: 17 Mins: 57 Seconds: 54

I never had a Monday specific crave, but I do have work related "triggers". I used to smoke before I came in, after meetings, with smoking buddies here etc. I have a bag of veggies with me. I chew on those. I take a walk at lunch now as well and most important - I READ THIS BOARD! I feel a sense of togetherness here. I am with others who are going through and doing what I am doing. It makes me stronger. Good luck on your Monday Craves!
