I Am a mom and an ER nurse. I deal with stress every day, and I look forward to not smoking, but am also scared what well I do know when I am torn to the breaking point and then it all calms. Smoking was always my way to regroup calm down and get refocused. Welcome MamaW. I was afraid too. I have since found this site which I cannot go a day without reading and posting. It has helped me realize that I am not alone. Congratulations on your decision.

Mama, welcome to a community of awesome people who spill their guts for all of us to see,and that we are not alone in this war. And that is what it is a war. It will test you in every way but you have made the right decision. It was getting hard for me to get a deep breath but now I can and only after 48 days and even before. Smoking was my way to relax, can you imaging relaxing and killing yourself at the same time. Keep your will power high. And remind yourself of the goals you have set. :) And remember that dreams do come true. Congratulations on your decision to save your life and start your road to freedom from addiction. Working in the ER you certainly get to see how fragile life can be for that person with COPD fighting for air that just isn't there. Life support, oxygen. Oh will I don't have to tell you do I. Being afraid is natural and part of the quit process along with many others. Being a member of the SSC community will help you to start your recovery process and the more you are here, the more you read, the less afraid you will be come. Every day it gets better. Some days are better that others. It is all attitude and how you care about yourself. This is not easy but it can be done. Duffis duffis's Quit Stats Since Sunday, February 13, 2005, I've been smoke-free for: 1 Year(s), 10 Days, 10 Hours, 36 Minutes, 51 Seconds. I have saved $1,575.00 by not smoking 11262 cigarettes. By not smoking I have added 81 Days, 8 Hours, 1 Minutes, 26 seconds. to my life expectancy.
