HEY EVERYONE. LET ME FRST INTRODUCE MYSELF. I AM A 26 ALMOST 27 YEAR OLD. I HAVE BEEN SMOKING SINCE I WAS 12 AND HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO QUIT. UNFROTUNATELY THE INSTANT MESSENGER DOESNT WORK ON MY MAC SO I HAVE TO USE THIS TO GAIN BUDDIES AND HELP IN QUITTING. I USED TO BE A RUNNER, A SKATEBOARDER, AND A TENNIS PLAYER...NOW IT SEEMS I CANT DO HALF THE STUFF I USED TO. PLEASE WELCOME ME AND IF YOU ALL WANNA HELP OUTSIDE FROM HERE PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME:

Welcome Pinball, like you, I am new to this as well. The wonderful thing about this group is that I feel as if I have made so many new friends that will be here for you no matter what. At home, since I am the only one that smoked, my husband and daughters have no idea what I am going through and even tho they try to give me support, it comes out being negative and just frustrates me even more. For example.. broke down and bought pack yesterday, took couple of puffs and felt like a total loser. My family support was...I knew it, you'll never quit. I found this site and I feel with all my heart that if I hadn't, my journey of kicking this addiction would be pure hell or worse, just gave up. Hang tough, everyone here is proud of you! Hi Pinball ! I took these tips from another post.. Hope they help you quit.. Pamper yourself and don't let anyone get in your way of that either. Drink a lot of water, cranberry juice and tea to help flush the nicotine out of your system. (I like the cranberry-grape) Get some candy to munch on.. sunflower seeds, peanuts, etc. When you get a craving (they last maximum of 3 min.) grab a piece of candy and wait for it to pass. Get hooked on the candy for a while... you know how easy you get burnt out on candy anyway. Get rid of all smoking stuff.. clean your car out.. spray everything. Avoid all smoking places and smokers if possible. If you can afford it, see a counselor.. (If I could afford it I would) Keep coming here !!! We have a club for February quitters.. you are invited to join us.. lots of great people.. we all quit recently just like you. Look for our posting thread called : Knights of the Empty Ashtrays (February quitters) Hang Tuff ! Knight Christine Fighting an ongoing battle with NicoDemon and winning !!! Congrats on your decision to quit. You're finding this 10 years earlier than I did . . . you're lucky. Don't think of it as unfortunate, this site and the threads contained herein have been a very important part of my quit. Good luck and stay strong! Welcome Pinballpoet. If you REALLY want to quit, this is the place to be. Like Lady says, use the tools here. They really do make a difference. You are at a great age to be quitting. If you continue to smoke, those sports you love will be a thing of the past. So set a quit date and hop aboard the most challenging extreme sport there is...Nicodemon Wrestling. lol.
