Hi goldnchld, I am on my 6th day of quitting cold turkey, no patches, no Wellbutrin, only some vitamins and some herbal detoxant. I don't have nightmares, but for the past three nights, I kept waking up every couple hours with stopped up nose and terrible taste in my mouth, also a need to take a leak. Maybe from the hot tea I drink before bed. But, I always had tea before, it never mattered. I know my body is changing, even coffee is tasting stronger now. This is affecting my performance during the day. Hope it will go away before next Monday. Thanks goldnchld, Everyone is different... I just figured Cold Turkey was the way to go for me. The important thing is that we do N.O.P.E. I have used Wellbutrin to quit smoking and it has worked great for me. I quit smoking on 03/07/06. On 03/08/06 i began having horrible nightmares. This went on for 5 nights. I found that if I smoked 1 cigarette before bedtime, I didn't have nightmares. So for about a week I did just that. But even though I didn't smoke during the day and had just that one at night, I began to feel guilty. So now I wear the 7mg patch to bed and get the same result of no nightmares just as when I smoked that 1 ciagrette. I'm just fine during the day. I have no desire to smoke at all. Has anyone else gone through this? How long does it last? The patch is just as expensive as cigarettes! I know, it is less dangerous but still! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for sharing your experiences with me. My thoughts and prayers go out to you both! I do not use the patch during the day. The Wellbutrin works beautifully during the day and I have no need for the patch. But if I don't use it at night or don't smoke 1 cigarette before bed, I have the worst nightmares and wake up through out the night. The nightmares are the worst. I wake up screaming and jumping out of the bed.....running from I don't know what...until my roommate wakes me and then I begin to calm down. It is just terrible. Ron, you are a stronger person than I to not take medication or smoke to get rid of the nightmares. 2 weeks!! I pray they end for you soon!

Wow... the nightmares seem to be quite common.. Lots of posts about dreams.. Many have said that wearing it 24/7 increases the dreams and taking it off at night gets rid of the dreams. I've had a few dreams about smoking.. mostly weird ones.. not scary though and I am a cold turkey. Adam your stuffy nose... may be Spring allergies and might be a reaction to quitting. Try drinking more water and maybe get a humidifier. Humidifiers are way cheap.. and really help night time stuffiness. The terrible taste in your mouth is very common and need to grab some breath mints and rinse a lot. Probably gunk coming up ... a good thing.. You all hang tuff.. these things will get better day by day.. Hi goldnchld, On previous quit attempts i had realy weired and some frightening dreams when i had the patch on at night and it also had me waking constantly through the night. This Time i decided to take it off at night and have not had any dreams at all. It may be down to having too much ncotine in the body when sleeping if you are using the 24 hour patch, when you smoked, you wernt smoking all through the night.
