Craves are often triggered my memory association. As you've found out, if you change the association you reduce or eliminate the trigger.
It is possible that if, after an extended time, you go back to your regular coffee (or creamer) it will trigger a crave again. If you do go back, expect it to happen. My experience is that anticipated craves are much weaker, if they happen at all. I'd guess you might have a couple of weak ones, more annoyances than craves, and that will be it for the coffee/cig connection. :)
