Oh my dear Mr. Smogs.....there is no one like you. I'm afraid I have lots of red lights today. I should have known you would show up to grab my hand. You already know my favorite joke. "what do you get when you cross an onion and a donkey"? Purhaps you could tell me a story. Yes. I think one of your stories would do the trick........ Ah my quit family....do not misinterpret. As I said, my desire to keep my quit far outweighs my desire to smoke. I've just read through my daily inspirations. Here is one of my favorites. Every time you feel frustration, you have an opportunity. You have the opportunity to create positive value out of a negative situation. Frustration is an unmistakable signal that things could be better. And though you may be completely unable to change the outside circumstances, at the very least you can change yourself for the better. Instead of becoming mired in your frustration, let yourself become inspired by it. Know that your frustration is pointing you to some positive, valuable action you can take. Today is a good day not to smoke. Taste the freedom that quitting brings. No matter what life brings my way or what thoughts may cross my mind, I will not smoke. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 194 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,889 Amount Saved: $679 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 3 Mins: 18 Seconds: 56

newbkr...not sure where Golferman is but I'm sure he isn't far away. I posted something about intelligence last week and he popped out of the woodwork. Probably just busy like the rest of us, trying to regroup after the holidays. I'm sure we'll be seeing him soon. Not craving.Just thinking. Things seem to be falling apart all around me. Its been a heck of a week and its only Wednesday morning. It began Sunday morning and has all gone downhill since then. Sometimes life just isnt fair (there is a new revolution huh). Im trying to hold on to my positive attitude and I keep repeating those inspirational sayings over and over in my head but somehow I just need a little more right now so I turn to all of you, my quit family. For those of you new in your quitsthese are thoughts not craves. Ive often heard people speak of the smoking dreams and how real they are. I didnt personally experience these until the last couple of nights. They are pretty creepy. My desire to stay quit far outweighs my desire to smoke. Smoking just seems to be on my mind a lot this week. Would it really be a relief to sit on the deck and have just one? To sit there looking out over the back yard, listening to the birds, alone with my thoughts, planning my next move. Would that be relief? Probably not. Sacrificing my new found freedom just wouldnt be worth it. Developing new coping skills for all life throws our way is challenging indeed. So here I sit....sinking fast...could someone grab my hand please. Lady, You have so much to be proud of!!! Be proud of your 194 days! Be proud of your family, your successes in your career and your friends! Be proud of yourself Lady! You are such an inspiration to me and so many here. Your positive encouragement motivates us to press forward and continue on in this journey. You lead by example... and yes Lady, you ARE a leader! You are an amazing woman, and I'm proud to call you my friend. So hang on and don't let go. I'll be hanging on to you with all my might... just don't let go, OK? I don't know who posted this first, but I really liked it and I copied it to my quit diary and I'm posting it here for you: Determination When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road your trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and its turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When they might have won, had they stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victors cup; And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when your hardest hit, It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit! Crave the Quit! Lady, Wow! Sorry to hear you let that darn nicodemon back into your head for a bit! I apologize for being late with this post, but I just returned from the hospital where I spent the last 2 days with my wife. She woke up about 12:30am Monday to some severe chest pains. Long story short, all the cardiac tests showed no signs of a heart attack. Possible major gall bladder attack though. More out patient tests to follow. Lady, it's easy to find oneself in that place where you think, just one won't hurt. Believe me, as I sat at the hospital in the middle of the night, the nicodemon was beating me over the head more than a few times. I had to go outside to use my cell phone and the smokers were out there in force. I just looked at them standing there in the cold like robots and my desires just went away. You will have moments like that Lady. Stay positive. Stay focused. It sounds like many have thrown you a ilfeline, but here's one from me too.. grab on and hold on tight. We are all in this lifeboat together. :) Be Strong. Be Smart. Lady I am sosorry you are having a rough time. At 6 onths I too had it rough, I went to a cousellor and he gave me some really good advice. If you can see someone that really helps. One thing the counsellor told me is not to worry too much about the thought of smoking, as long as I don't act on it. He explained that we do have thoughts of "I am tired" or "I am hungry" but its just s thought and we dont worry about it or analyze it so why worry about a "smoking thought" its just tht and nothing more. I hope this helps and I do hope you get feeling better. It will pass and you will feel better, mine did and I am sure yours will too.
