I was trying to find an answer for you, in my experiences. I have quit for four days, big deal right. Who am I to offer advice. Well here goes, in the past when I quit smoking I always looked for excuses to start again. This time I have identified my excuses and we all know which ones we use and attempt to avoid them or ignore. So far it is working. Chico

Don't give up on yourself! We haven't "met," but I have been reading your posts- You are doing so well. Do you really want to go though what you have been going through again? I know you smoked, but so what. It's not the end of the world. That hopeless feeling sucks so much, and I have had it before, and you were well on your way to making it leave forever, and I think you are still so close! But if it's not time for you, it's not time, but just remember that hopeless feeling and know that there is a way that YOU can make it stop...I hope you make it stop today! Meg

ArwensMom, only you will know when you are ready to quit and only you will be able to make it happen. Just know that we will be here for you when you are ready. Don't beat yourself up to bad this is a strong addiction and we have all had a tough time. kaiser My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 64 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,575 Amount Saved: $640 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 4 Mins: 52 Seconds: 26

ArwensMom, I am sorry to hear that you slipped. The guys are right.. you must want to quit more than smoke.. Perhaps you can sit down and think about the reasons that you wanted to quit and see if you might not want to get rid of the smokes and try again. Remember, right now your body has cleared itself out.. and smoking doesn't feel so bad.. (you are being fooled into hurting yourself again). Your boyfriend too.. he has such health issues. I hope that you can return and try again.. I was doing okay until I was cleaning out the car, throwing out that stinking ash tray. Giving it all a good spray of fabreeze. Then I found a pack that had fallen under the seat. Both my boyfriend and I split it, then bought another. I have told myself over and over you cannot really quit smoking until you just don't smoke anymore. Even one a day, or one a week, you're still smoking. I have been under tremendous pressure lately. That's no excuse, I keep trying, and trying, each day, each hour is a victory. Even so, that victory is lost because after 30 days, a week, two days, who knows. Eventually I have another one. I don't even LIKE it anymore and I'll still give in. I'll keep reading, keep up, but I just cannot say that I really quit now.

Lady, you said a mouthful there... "When you want to quit more than you want to smoke, you will succeed." That is the best way for anyone on this site to know if they will stay quit. ArwensMom, when you REALLY feel that sentence strongly, you try again, and we will be here for you. All the best to you, your boyfriend and of course Arwen. AM, I sorry to hear that you fell - been reading your struggles with interest over the weeks. I think you know yourself the reasons you're smoking. I personally can't convince myeslf of them anymore (but that doesn't stop me occasionally trying!!). Anyway as someone has already pointed out you really need to want to stop - perhaps you don't enough to make this quit stick? I don't know and am not judging you - its really just a question. I do know however that after the first few days its all psychological and the 'nicodemon' - is that the correct terms guys? will try all manner of schemes...but you know that already. So listen my thoughts are with you. Firstly i wanted to say.....you know all about this addiction thing right ? why would you want to put yourself through it again... but seriously - i wouldn't go beating yourself up over it. i spose the positive side to this.... you will able to learn from your slipping. When you are ready to quit again (cos you will) arm yourself with more ammo, teach yourself, that smoking is a plain and simple addition to a drug called Nicotine. You will then be able to quit, but only when you want to, it's all about you. Cigarettes Not Smoked

ArwensMom... You sound just like me in all of my previous attempts to quit. I would go a few days and then smoke....several hours and smoke... It's a never ending battle. This time BEFORE I quit, I told myself, If I had just done this and stuck with it before I would already be finished with it. Don't keep wishing you were quit, QUIT! Don't give up until you get it right. No it isn't easy. So what? How much in your life really is "easy" anyway? You can do this. Make sure you get rid of all the smokes and don't buy anymore. When you want to quit more than you want to smoke, you will succeed. Until you reach that point, keep trying. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 245 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,911 Amount Saved: $857.5 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 15 Mins: 22 Seconds: 39

Most people here have failed many, many times. There is an occasional person who quit on the first attempt, but now many. Try again. For your life and for your kids' life.
