7 days and I feel awful

18 years ago 0 7 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Brick: I am on day 7 of not smoking today, and know just how you are feeling. I was having a good past few days, and then today, wham, I feel like I would do just about anything for a smoke. Talk about a short temper, I started a huge yelling fight with my patient husband because he did not fill up the car before we went out food shopping. Then yelled at him for stopping at a gas station that was very busy, and I made him take me home, slamming the car door shut and running into bed and fuming. Plus his car still smelled like cigarettes, though he has quit as well. Everything tastes "off" - I want chocolate even though I normally hate it, and made my poor husband drive out to the store again and buy some marble cream cake, and that tastes like anchovies. Go figure!! Lol. I am doing lamaze breathing and literally taking it a minute at a time right now, just get through this one minute and not go out and buy cigarettes. I thought I was doing so well, if I could wear two patches today I would.

Thnaks for all the support - sorry I didn't come back online, went to bed and slept as I felt so so tired and worn out and was ready to give in to old Nic. Feel a bit better today but not much, just keep saying to myself I have got too far now to give in and if I feel bad now I'll feel even worse if I have a cig - and the guilt will be awful. I'm just looking toward the end of each day instead of trying to look too far ahead of myself. Thanks again Joanne

Made it a full week and have felt really good and positive until today and not had many cravings, today the cravings have been awful and I have been totally out of my routine as I thought it would help like it has in the last 7 days but oh no it had just been the pits. All I have wanted all day is a cig and I can't seem to stop myself thinking about them. Have I hit the week one wall? Hi MiouMiou I got throught day 7 and day 8 which wasn't much better but I just put my head down and got stuck into anything to keep me busy. I'm now on day 11 going into day 12 and I feel great, still get the odd urge to have a cig but within seconds it is gone. Last night I went out for the first time for a drink - stayed close to home incase I needed to run to safety, but it was fine and I stayed all night even whilst my hubby and friends smoked around me, not once did I want a cig - quiet the opposite - I felt sorry for them that they were puffing away. Keep going and scream and shout and cry - I did in day 7 and 8, it helped and got me through. You can do it, and you will start to feel so proud and pleased with yourself that you didn't give in Joanne ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 290 Amount Saved: 55 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 35 Seconds: 13

HI BrickWall: You're doing Fabulous with 7 days! Awesome job. I think it's perfectly normal what you are experiencing. There are many days when I think about cigarettes WAY more than I can believe. Do you have your list of reasons why you quit close by for review? Hopefully you are drinking all the water. I'm glad you're feeling well (health wise) It's okay to think about cigarettes, JUST DON'T SMOKE. NOPE Not One Puff Ever. Sometimes, if you can, just shut your eyes and take a nap. Can't smoke while you're asleep....and you'll re-energize for the next crave. It won't be easy, but 7 days is phenominal! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 81 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,268 Amount Saved: $729 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 10 Mins: 17 Seconds: 47

Brick Wall, Sorry I'm late coming in, I hope you are feeling better. As Healer said just keep building that brick wall higher and keep on fighting. You can do this my friend. Determination and a good attitude is what will get you through this, stay close to SSC and we will help you through this. Do what ever it takes to hold on to your quit. Thinking of the cigarettes won't hurt you, just don't smoke them. Not even one puff... You have made a wise choice to quit, and that quit belongs to you and no one else. So take really good care of it. As I write this I hope you are in your bed all snuggled up and sound asleep. And will awake with a renewed strength.
