Geesh I want a cigarette! (no I don't) lol I sound crazy and I feel crazy...I wonder how much of this is related to withdrawal ;) Laughing at myself does seem to help these insanely powerful urges that invade my moments. But you know, that's all they are..."moments"...they do pass. Each time I make it through the urge successfully, I feel stronger. Maybe I have not begun the real battle yet. Anyways...I woke up with a desire to smoke(as I always do) and so I see I need to replace that "habit" of morning smokes. Coming here seems like a good replacement. Good morning, Cinda. Congratulations on 3 smoke-free days. That's fantastic! :) Coming here is an excellent replacement. It's a proven fact that you can't light a cig while all 10 fingers are busy on the keyboard. ;p By the end of the day the nicotine will be pretty much out of your system. That doesn't mean it's all over, not by a long shot. But it is a step forward. It does mean that the physical withdrawl is over and now your quit becomes purely a head game with yourself; the addict you vs. the rational non-smoking you. Distraction is the best treatment. Changing a routine, such as you did this morning, is a form of distraction so you're on the right track. Exercise is another excellent coping method. I've ground many a crave to dust by walking, either on a treadmill or just around the block. And when all else fails, curl up in your chair, close your eyes, and rock back and forth singing "Three Blind Mice". :8o: You're doing great, Cinda. Keep up the good quit.
