Hello, it's day two of not smoking, I feel pretty good. I actually slept better last night than I have for a long time. I did sleep w/ patch on, becuz my tough times are first thing in the morning. I worried about having nightmares, but I had the opposite "problem." My hubbie told me about ten times last night how proud he is of me, and that made me feel especially better. One thing that crawls into my brain - is the 'habit'-- not necessarily the craving. Does that make sense? I think that I 'should' be having a smoke, becuz it's breaktime or lunchtime or I'm bored........I'm not really having a real craving. Thanks for your very nice responses back, they really encourage me. I can't quite figure out how to reply back to you. Can you help me? :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/10/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21 Amount Saved: $2.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 13 Seconds: 3

sally I didn't have any trouble with the patch sleeping, I slept better to. I got some cinnamon sticks from the grocery and used them to stir my morning coffee and sucked on them it helped me the first week. My husband was supportive of me also. it really helps. Hi Sally'sDaughter! You're doing great! I know what you mean about habits and cravings - don't be too concerned. The habits will go as the weeks go past; while this is happening the patches continue to feed you nicotine. I found that as I decreased the patch level, I noticed no noticeable rise in nicotine craving. I'm now 10 days off the patches and my cravings are minimal Keep on going, it will be worth it! Best wishes Mr Ed ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 87 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,624 Amount Saved: 652.5 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 14 Mins: 0 Seconds: 21

Hi there Sallys_daughter!! Congratulations on making it through your first day!! :) I am glad you feel better today. The habit part of the quit is very hard. However, if you make new habits, it makes it a little bit easier. Only conquer one trigger at a time. But, once you do conquer a trigger, it makes it that much easier the next time. For example, after eating dinner. You probably would go smoke. Now, after dinner, immediatly start the dishes and clean up. Or find something else that is working your hands. Once you've created that new habit of not smoking after dinner, and cleaning up instead, it will get a lot easier. This won't happen overnight though. It does take time. My morning cups of coffee are now spend here. On the computer, at the SSC, drinking my coffee. Instead of out in the garage, smoking about 4 cigs before I have go get the kids up and ready. Stick with it! Stay strong! We are here for you anytime you need us! SD, You are doing great. It is awesome to have a supportive spouse. Hang in there it is a tough ride, but well worth it from what I hear. As far as replying just click the little thing at the far right of the Blue/Grey Bar with Poster's name and Post Date. It looks like a piece of paper with a pencil. Good Luck and read alot and post alot. Also you may want to look at the tools to the left of the screen to help you get a good head start. Hi, Sallys_daughter. Congratulations on your second day smoke-free. Hubby needs a hug for being supportive. So many spouses just think you should be able to just set them down and walk away. He may not understand, but at least he's appreciative of what you're doing. That's just super! :) I remember, vaguely, of dealing with the habit part, too. Didn't really want a cig, it was just time for one. You'll get through it. Everytime you want one and don't have one, that weakens the association between that event and smoking. Eventually, that association will be broken. Just be patient, it will come. Like Stu said, to reply just click the little "pencil and paper" icon. You can't reply to individual posts, just to the thread in general. So if you are responding to multiple people, you can do it in one post if you'd like. Just make sure the reader can tell who the post is directed to if it isn't obvious. You're doing great, Sallys_daughter. Keep up the good quit. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 353 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,069 Amount Saved: $1341.4 Life Gained: Days: 65 Hrs: 21 Mins: 28 Seconds: 26
