rawker, Hang in there and be strong. Take up a new habit after eating, for example, go for a walk or start a new hobby, anything that will distract you from smoking. Hope this helps, Melanie _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Brushing my teeth after each meal has helped me a lot to get rid of the need for a smoke after eating. Now I do it only mornings and evenings, but in the beginning I brushed my teeth like 5 times a day or so. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 663 Amount Saved: 39 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 22 Mins: 13 Seconds: 43

Rawker, I have the same problem, the after eating cig is the one i miss the most. I feel like i'm still hungry if i dont smoke after eating. I used to go outside my office to smoke after lunch, now i go outside to chew gum. It's actually kinda been working. rawker: This was a big one for me as well. The cig after the meal not only completed my eating time....it gave me such SATISFACTION! That feeling was what I was craving...not so much the actual cigarette. I have to say that chocolate is the only thing that I found that could give me that same feeling of satisfaction at the end of a meal. I would mix it up in what form it would take...but that's what helped...chocolate. Sometimes a piece of dove candy, sometimes a hot chocolate, sometimes those snackwell's chocolate cookies.... Anyway, you get the idea. As for the calories, I just watched how much I had...only one piece of chocolate for example. Any extra calories in that was WORTH it. :) Cheers. Rawker...I used peppermints after I ate. Someone said smoking was your bodies way of knowing you were done eating and when we quit we need to retrain our thinking so the body still knows when to stop. Each time I finished eating instead of lighting up, I popped a peppermint. To this day, I do not crave after I eat. Well, sometimes I crave a peppermint. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 208 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,171 Amount Saved: $728 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 9 Mins: 8 Seconds: 57

rawker, Drink lots of water. Oftentimes, drinking water can "trick" your body into thinking that it is full. It also flushes all the bad chemicals out of your body and is useful in easing withdrawals. Chewing on ice also gives your mouth something to do without any calorie intake. Keep up the great work! Crave the Quit! One SSC member used a piece of strong cheese as the "finisher" to her meals. Her reasoning was the cigarette used to mark the meal's end so she needed to replace it. Seemed to work for her. If you aren't a cheese eater, maybe something else would work.
