Stopped smoking January 16th. The first couple of weeks were not to bad since I am wearing the patch. But as the time goes on the cravings get stronger. Sometime I feel that I am ready to cave in and have a cigarette. When I have a craving, my troat tightens up and I get knots in my stomach. I had this problem the last time I tried to quit, so I am trying to hang in there.
Has any one else had the problem where the craviings get stronger instead of weaker as the time goes on.

What a great message to get through the tough times:
N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E.
I'll be adding THAT one my "self-talk" list. Plain and simple and OH ... so important. I CAN do this!
Thanks

I just about a week ahead of you in terms of quit time. We did use different methods though. I just went cold turkey.
I would observe that the cravings will not die down until you come off the patches and the body readjusts to no nicotene. Normally if you don't supply the body with Nic then this happens within about 3-5 days.
Not sure what to advise you to do. 50 days without nicotene and I don't really have significant cravings anymore. Would still like a cigarette though.
Perhaps someone who has gone through NRT would be better placed to give you some advice.
Stay strong though - don't give up a 40 day quit.

Every once in a while I'll get a craving...not really for the cigarette so much as the act of smoking it. I don't want the nasty, smelly cigarette...I just want the "peaceful feeling" that I felt came with the act of smoking it. But, then I remember, that darned ole' nicodemon is only sitting on my shoulder, whispering nasty nothings into my ear, and those cravings melt away.

I've had small cravings but it's only at stressful times. When you feel the craving that you talk about, that's the time you come here, drink a large glass or water, go for a walk, take a bath...anything to get your mind off of it. Remember...this too shall pass. Each craving that you get through successfully will remind you that they do get easier as time goes by.
Besides...the craving you're having isn't really for the cigarette itself...it's the "calm" or the "relaxing moment" you crave...not the smelly, nasty tasting, body damaging cigarette you want!
This will get you through even the toughest times:
N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E. N.O.P.E.

Hi Aubanki and welcome! It doesn't matter if you have 41 days or 441 days, every now and then a cigarette thought will come into your mind. It's just a thought! You can change the subject because you are in control not the addiction. So change the subject by doing something different: go for a walk, take a shower, vacuum, drink a cup of tea or a bottle of icey cold water. Remember that you are in charge!
