Old timers_When did the cravings stop?

18 years ago 0 208 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thanks.. You are an OLD timer ;-). Not smoking is something I have to think about everyday now. I can't wait for the first day that I DONT think about smoking. Hopefully I will remember this statement and post the first day that I actually don't think about it. Hi, I'd like to ask some of the old timers when the cravings became something of the past. I'm hoping it is not forever and would like to here from some of you when it NOT smoking became the norm for you. TIA, Sheila My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 239 Amount Saved: $49 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 39 Seconds: 22

It's just a passing thought on occassion now. Something triggers the mind but I really don't know what it is. I dismiss the thoughts as soon as they start, even laugh at them and they just go away. It's a wonderful feeling to be able to do that. When do they stop? Like Brent said, Tuesday. I really don't know. You just wake up one morning and the "kill me now" cravings are gone. Everyone is different. When your time comes, you will know. Hang in there. It's Awesome and you are going to love being a quitter! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 227 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,548 Amount Saved: $794.5 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 0 Mins: 55 Seconds: 26

Hi Sheila In my tenure being quit and being on these boards and others, I don't think anyone can give you a definate answer as to how long. I haven't had any urges or cravings in an awful long time, but to say when they went away, I just don't know, they just did and I can say it was worth strugling thru the hard times. Give it time and I and everyone else can promise you that it will get better and some day soon you will wake up and know that the urges have left you. Hang in there, seven days is an awesome start to your quit. Like never, but they are pretty spread out now!! Seriously, I know they will always be there with me in some form, it's just not that often any more and when they are around, they are very, very easy to deal with. Good Luck Penitent d636

phreak, As said below, Tuesday and sometimes never :) Everyone's body is going to react differently and so will yours. The craves and thoughts will dwindle over time. You will indirectly think about it for a while. Let us know if we can help, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
