Water Retention Getting Worse

19 years ago 0 33 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
It has been 10 days since I quit using the batch, and 12 weeks since I quit smoking. I am having problems with water retenion, I have had to take off my rings, because my fingers have swollen. This happened the last time I tried to quit, I really started to retain water at about the 3 months period. The doctors were not any help so, I started to smoke again to solve the problem. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem, and what they did about it. Since I moved, I do not have a doctor, so going to one is not an option for me. Aubanki, I agree with the others about seeking Dr. advice just to put yourself at ease. I too had the problem of water retention when I quit before and this time also. Surprising but what stopped it was drinking LOTS AND LOTS of water. My body was telling me it needed water. Plus I was eating out a lot and the sodium intake was a lot. So I have quit all salt (or as much as I can), and I drink A LOT of water and this has really helped and stopped the water retention. One thing to be careful of is your salt intake. It will make you retain water like crazy. And just about every kind of processed food you eat has salt in it. I do agree with Melanie, though. I don't know where you've moved to or what your health care system is, but I think it's a good idea to find some medical attention. At the very least, do some web surfing about it. My sister started having swollen ankles and hands, and they're saying she has peripheral vascular disease or poor circulation. It could be anything, but please do get some professional advice. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Abubanki, This symptom has been going on for 10 days now and does not seem to be getting better. Its possible that your smoking may have been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Try going to a walk-in clinic or your community hospital for assistance. It is best to be safe! Please keep us posted! Melanie __________________________ The SSC Support Team
