Beautiful Pepper!

That's an important life lesson some people never understand. You're headed in the right direction!

Thanks all! Very glad of the support group here.
What Ashley said is right, the main focus now is to get well.
And with it, I have learnt to be not so bothered by other people's judgement. I do not have to be perfect, I just need to be me!

Pepper,

If you ever come across other posts of mine, you'll see that I too have lost friends because of depression and have even had a hard time getting them to relate to me. It's hard when people don't understand what you're going through. As Ashley has said, you're not in this alone! Let's support each other!

Hi Pepper,

Welcome!

I'm sorry to hear about this - depression can be very isolating especially because many people do not fully understand what it means to be depressed.

The good news is you can talk to us - you're not in this alone. Right now focus on the program and getting well. The friends and being social will come while working on the program.  Start with Session 1 and take your time working your way through. Do the homework and post in the support group. You should see a difference in just a few weeks.

Keep us updated on how you are doing.

Hi Pepper... welcome to the forums!

Yes, I have lost many friends due to the depression.  Some people don't know what to say or how to help if they have no experience with depression.  Others shy away because they fear it is contagious... in a way it can be.  It is hard to stay "up" in the face of someones' despair.  In my case... mostly I am the one that withdraws and isolates when the depression is bad.  I just don't want anyone to see me.

I think it is probably a good sign that you want to have contact with people. Maybe hanging out here for a bit will help ease your loneliness.  Once you get into doing the program you will find many ideas and methods to help you out.   Thanks for posting.  I look forward to "seeing" you around.

Hi,

Has anyone felt that people around you are avoiding you because you are depressed and have nothing positive to say? I know I am negative when I am in this state, but I just couldn't help it. It makes me even more depressed that I cannot socialise now even though I want to.

Thanks!
Pepper
