setting myself up for trouble

15 years ago 0 456 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hi rose,

not the pachaderms... these are the family of elephants and hypopotamus.  In english you have the two bumped bactrian camel and the one bumped arabian camel.   In french the one bumped is an andromadaire and the two bumped is a chameau/camel.

Beading.  I bought a bunch of inexpensif plastic and wood beads and strung them on my husband's 8 lbs fishing line.  I was playing with colour and size and shapes.  If at michaels the kits are under 15 to 20 dollars then it might be nice to have a variety of items mixed in advance.  What is nice in the kit, is it will tell you how to tie a solid knot and provide a bit of thin strong string that you will not need needles to string....

So yes buy something inexpensif to start with.  see if you like playing with these little things.
Ah yes walmart also has some nice things.  and the liquidation table is my favorite place- but careful of open packages since you lose major pieces of the project!
Buy an inexpensif little calculator and check out the prices!  My dollar store sells 6 beads for a dollar ($0.16) and the craft store sells many beads $0.10 (and more).

wildcat,

Thank you for keeping us updated on your month.

You have mentioned a lot of important tips and strategies that other members are sure to find useful. By cutting out sugary foods to resting when you needed to, it is great to hear you were able to succeed over the month of December.

Members, what did you find helpful when managing holiday stress?

I explained that talking to me is not the same as the others, since I lived the experience and it returns regularly.  He would not break the holiday spirit in me by discussing his illness and even if he needed it I was always available.  A pain shared is a pain halved, and a joy shared is a joy doubled.

Strange how this cousin had alway been so far away from me a whole 3 years far.  And now he is the one with the experience that is closest to mine health wise.  His brother who was closer, 2 years younger than me is the one who has the life the seems a world away - 25 minutes into the suburbs.

hi gang...

lets see how I survived this december ...

early december I felt I was having trouble with something ... I think it was stress and jealousy and a problem with controling the Intensity of the emotion so I called my psychologisted and made a quick stop with her! That helped.  It remined me that emotions are still my weak point and i need to bite my tongue!  I will over react because i never learned to react I learned to repress!

I knew that I was headed towards a tough time so I set myself up for it.  I prepare my gifts in advance, I have my visiting schedual set-up, and I talked to my self... I told myself that this year the holidays were about rest.  It was not about the festivites and the parties. It was not about exploring and learning. It was about consolodating all the advances i made since the summer and Hyberating.   I have a lot of healing to do still, I am way too reactive.  Stress  lights me like those sparkling candles and I remain Hot for too long afterwards...  where I should be I florecent light bulb (or at least an incandecent) .

So I listened to what my body and my mind were telling me...  The house is an absolute dump! because I did no house work. I was going early and taking a 20 min lunch nap.   It was a better way of recharging and was okay for my compulsive eating.  I realised I was eating to not feel the acid !  All these years I have been stuffing myself inorder to ignore the burning in my stomach and throat!  And the fast food kept me regular during these times ... funny how the good - normal food has me constipated and is giving me a killing pain in the back.   I emptied the junk from my desk - no more 500 calorie snacks  of sugar-carbs like chocolate chip cookies and biscotties.  I even emptied the hidden change from the car - so that I could not buy junk...  so I wanted to stop at McDo EVERY nite for food for the traffic.  I did stuff myself on good stuff at home.  I gained 5 pounds... no helping that!  but much of the craving I resisted.

I listened to the need for rest.  I napped.  I went to bed even when not tired and read a book, played with my angle and goddess tarots, i did sudoku.  I let the muscles of my body go and I did not think work. I did not do the computer and TV obsession things.  I did not listen to music and sounds only the breathing of the kids and the husband and the cat.  I dressed comfortably, in layers.  I made sure to be prepared for the cool of the office in the morning and the warmth of the office in the afternoon.  I had lots of pretty scarves for my sore throat and salt & water gargle and the essential oil from the accupuncturist! I did take the sleep meds on Fridays so as to have some good sleep once in a while with nothing left on the Monday.

I pushed the past away.  All those horrible holidays of fights and nasty words ... I left them where they occured.  None of those people exist anymore.  Me and my cousins have grown.  My grandparents and my father and uncle are dead.  My aunt has a new friend in her life.  And we all have wonderful spouses and children now.  Life is completely different and there is no way to relive those past days.  So there is no way to ruin anyone's holidays.  I even spoke to my older cousin about depression at christmas dinner.  He was worried about sounding like those Mon-Oncles that ruined the mood once upon a time.  I expl

hey wildcat - are you thinking pachaderm? not spelling that right.....i think camels can have one or two humps  eating and sleeping - 2 out of the 3 greatest pleasures.....i've been meaning to ask you about the beading, how do you get started, should i buy a kit at michaels or some craft store? sounds like fun and if turned out ok could make great gifts for next year!

Wildcat, looking forward to hearing those colorful stories of successes and things that do go bump bump bump.  Glad that you got a good night's rest and have lots of good stuff to go through!  Keep hanging on to those controls!  You got it going on!

hi gang.  I have a few seconds before this last crazy day.

I did take the seroquel last night and got some real sleep!  so I am decent to today and not driving like a camel or the-one-bump thing...?

I will colour a picture this week-end! I promise goofy!  I need to work through so much that I did do right

Wildcat,  sorry to hear you are sliding down a  slippery slope, but it sounds as if you have control of the slide.  Hang in there - I agree with Rose306 on the food you choose to eat.  So glad you are not doing the energy drinks.  I know I had to give up coffee and other caffeine because of my anxiety (with the MDD).  Do what you have to do!
Hope you get long and restful sleep and even though it seems as if the faster you work, the quicker you get to go home - it really doesn't work like that  but it sure does make the day seem shorter .
We like to hear you - we don't think it's rambling, so keep us posted and let us know how things are doing.  You write so colorfully and have awesome descriptions of things in your life - so even if it's a long post - it's good to read!
Hope to hear from you when you wake up!

hi ralph,
thats so nice... thank you!

hi rose,
remember chipping teeth on the wood sled? and the broken nose?
right now whatever food does not have mold in my fridge is game... and last's night attempt at pizza was greasey ... and that spicy chicken  was not a great idea with a spicy spaghetti sauce.  and the just starting to mold cheese - we cut the corners off- looked ok.

I invited my husband to an early new years supper between adults for real food served on a clean table!  so maybe that will be best .
and I will settle for drug induced coma for two nights   otherwise i will be a rambling idiot who thinks she can drive 1000X better than the Villeneuve family!

Hi Beanne.
the faster I get through the work the faster I can go home .... so gogogogogo RushRushRush !
