no depression in my family that i know of but plenty of alcoholism so that probably means yes lol. luckily for me, i only drink socially every now and then. been feeling this way for a few years now but its gotten worse since the breakup.

i'll take a few minutes to review the meds and see whats what and when i see a shrink, i'll bring it up.

Royally,

Good for you for taking the first steps to getting some help. Medication in conjunction with the online CBT program found here has a very good success rate in helping people learn to live with their depression. Speak with your doctor about a drug that is right for you.

Have you ever thought about doing some volunteer work while you are looking for a job? There are many english volunteer opportunities in Quebec. These can be a good way to get out of your house and meet people and stay social while you are looking for a job.

hi, nothing wrong with you going in there and stating the facts, how you feel, ask him/her - what do you think about antidepressants? in the meantime look them up in the glossary on this site or do some research - crazymeds, for one. i understand what you mean about the endless rows and soul sucking work, you'll start to feel better with the meds and the selfawareness. you're hardly a junkie, or anything like that. this really is an illness. it gets progressively worse unless you yourself intervene! does this run in your family? have you always felt this way? or just since the breakup?

yeah im thinking some meds would be good for me. im not a fan of them generally speaking but help is help... just feel strange about going to a Dr. and saying "can i get some drugs"... makes me feel like a junkie or some damn thing. anyway, i started looking for a shrink around my area, gonna give it a shot and maybe get something to help me out a lil with it.

oh and dont worry about it, didnt think you were flippant or anything.. i know what you meant but theres a big difference between shoveling **** for pennies and a career that you love that happens to pay really well. aside from rent and bills, warehouse jobs feel like they are killing my soul. just thinking of counting endless rows of jogging pants or whatever damn near makes me wanna cry, its just TOO depressing...

sorry screwed if i was being flippant - didn't mean to, just a b*tch sometimes. your girlfriend's response was pretty typical. they don't get it. if you've taken the tests and made the selfdiagnosis, please do something about it. you can rant and rave here all you want, it helps to get your thoughts in order. don't give up on this program, it helps and if you can find a good therapist be honest with him/her. antidepressants help, wellbutrin has the least sexual side effects, even an md can prescribe it. i wish you all the luck in the world, you deserve it, you should be proud of yourself for making a first step. this doesn't go away on it's own, keep at it, get to the bottom of it, talk to trusted family/friends. you're not alone

First of all you shuld know that depression is an ilness like any other and that you have the right to get better and that you need help. I'm depressed too and with some other problems all toghether and at first I was thinking exactely like you.... I'm not going to call for help etc... It is wrong. You deserve the best cure and to get better!

its worse than France lol... i live in Quebec... all in all... its just been a general depressing time spotted with far too brief moments of happiness. i did all the online depression test things i could find and they all say im up ****s creek start to think about going to a shrink which is just something i refused to do for years... told the ex when i was still with her that i was pretty much clinically depressed, she dismissed it and told me to stop overexagurating things... i mean how many people would take a cry for help and **** on it. anyway.... doing my best here not to rant and give every lil thing about my personal life away, kinda paranoid that someone i know might stuble onto the site and figure out that im me. i dont really go to people for help with things so its a big deal for me to even be here really

well a crappy job is better than no job in this economy and you live in france and you're only 28 - what really brings you here? to find out what went wrong? to stop kicking yourself? back to 1st post - hope - always, springs eternal! direction, probably has to come from you - at your age yeah a good job, career w/benefits, respect, etc. cbt - you know the jist of that is looking at your behavior and the consequences of it....

The relationship ending was a big thing for me and I know that'll take time to bounce back from. I've worked on an off in warehouses for the past 10 years to make ends meat and I'm not suicidal or anything (seriously, I'm not) but sweet Jesus if I have to get back into a warehouse, making just cents above minimum wage... I'll kill myself lol
